As you can probably guess from the title of the collection Henry is a horrid child whereas his brother Peter is perfect. Henry's mum and dad sincerely wish that Henry was like Peter but we don't because then there wouldn't be any fantastic antics from Simon to right her books about.

My favourite story in the book is definitely Horrid Henry's Bathtime because when I read it to my brother I remember that both he and I chuckled and thought about what it would be like if we had to share a bath together every night.
**Horrid Henry's Chores ** It's the weekend and Henry is looking forward to simply watching the TV all day but his mum has other ideas and those ideas involve chores for Henry and Peter. Being perfect Peter is eager to comply but Henry is less than willing and comes up with numerous plans to get himself out of doing them properly. One of his shortcuts however could just get him into trouble or will it?
**Moody Margaret Casts a Spell** Seeing Margaret waving a watch in front of Susan's face next door Henry and Rude Ralph decide to pull a trick on the pair of them and exclaim that Henry is a master hypnotist. Margaret and Susan however are highly sceptical even when Henry hypnotises Ralph, who is of course simply playing along. But when Margaret is suddenly hypnotised Henry is amazed by his own skills.
**Horrid Henry's Bathtime** Inn an attempt to save water Mum and Dad have in their infinite wisdom decided to make Henry and Peter share a bath. Henry is as always extremely reluctant and forces Peter to sit near the taps but when Dad makes a new house rule that whoever sits near the taps can control the waters temperature Henry tries forcing Peter to move. As the weeks progress and the hellish baths continued Henry is becoming less and less happy with the situation but so is Peter can they together stop Mum and Dad from forcing them to take a bath together?
**Horrid Henry Meets the Queen** The Queen is coming to visit Henry's school but for some reason that Henry cannot understand he is being forcible kept away from her whilst his worm of a younger brother is getting to present her with a bunch of flowers. Whilst Peter practices his routine however Henry tries to teach him new ways to greet the Queen. Peter of course knows that Henry is playing him but in the heat of the actual moment will he remember what he should actually do?
Now I am aware that these synopses are short but the stories themselves are short and so only warrant short synopses as if I wrote more I would be telling you the entire story, which really isn't the point of a review at all.
I would highly recommend these stories to all children within the target age range. They are simple yet entertaining reads and are sure to capture the imaginations of all that read them.
