...Although a dark comedy, the balance between the horror and the comedy is so well placed that it's a fun ride for anyone who watches it. Fun performances from Fraser and Rachel Weisz add to the tongue-in-cheek Saturday matinee appeal boosted by modern special effects can only improve on the Raiders of the lost Arch genre. . Screenwriter/director Stephen Sommers has taken license on this format and extended belief with flesh-eating beetles and battling ... Read review

Van Helsing - Brought to life HD style
Review of Van Helsing DVD by Cheesychip1

Advantages: Amazing HD quality and great movie
Disadvantages: Needs a HD dvd player and HD TV to play this item best.

HD makes this movie come to life. Quite scarily too. Hugh jackman plays the hunted murderer 'Van Helsing' in his search to find his calling. Helsing tavels the world hunting and capturing if posible dangerous beasts for preists of rome. This time he has to travel to transalvania and hunt count dracula (Richard Roxburgh). It seems he has a strange link to count dracula, and he searchs for the meaning of his life. Also accomanied by Anna Valerious ...
...never been allowed into the kingdom of heaven she has to kill Dracula. So Helsing and Anna team up along with the key to life Frankastien to exterminate Dracula and his young. The DVD of this film is great, but nothing compares to seeing it in HD. The picture is breathtaking and the sound is crisp. Like all HD DVDs this requires a HD DVD player to be played. This is a Widescreen DVD and it makes watching alot more cinema like than a plain old DVD. ... Read review

īBabies, cats and Jack the Ripperīs daughter
Review of The Classic Horror Collection Monster / Hands Of The Ripper / The Uncanny by scarletpurity

Advantages: Hands of the Ripper is excellent, The uncanny is OK
Disadvantages: The monster is rather weak movie

Basically the reason to buy this box is wonderful The hands of the Ripper (1971): the Monster aka I dont want to be born (1975) is a mediocre story about Joan Collinsīs and Ralph Batesīs murderous, possessed baby (!) and The Uncanny (1977) is an OK anthology about nervous, cat-fearing Peter Cushing and those cute little furballs taking bloody revenge for their female owners. First story of The uncanny is set in 1912 London, and it is blessed with ...
...cats punishing the young couple who had murdered their owner, a rich old woman, is so-so. A bully tastes her own medicine (hurrah!) in the second story, when the tormented girl has a cat with supernatural powers, and last yarn, set in 1930s Hollywood, has a horror star and his young mistress who murder the horror starīs wife - and yes, the wife has a cat. The hands of the Ripper tells about Jack the Ripperīs psychotic daughter, who kills people in ... Read review
