Tremors
Review of Tremors DVD by
blissman70
Advantages: Good humorous movie with a silly creature
Disadvantages: a bit sloppy on the special effects
...as the reason for the tremors around the desert are unearthed, leading to one of the weirdest creatures ever to grace our screens.
The acting is a bit questionable and the special effect team need to go back to school but if you don't take the movie as a true thriller/horror, more a comedy/thriller type, then this can be an entertaining movie all round.
Would I recommend this movie….?
Well yes, why not…
It is entertaining if a little on the silly ...

Long Time Dead
Review of Long Time Dead (Wide Screen) by
gemmafitz22
Advantages: Scary
Disadvantages: Non Memorable soundtrack
After reading previous reviews, I have to say I don't agree with their comments. Yes Joe Absolom is in the film although it took me a while to remember where I had seen him previously. (eastenders).
Rest of the actors I can honestly say I had never seen before but that didn't matter.
I thought the film was really scary. So bad that I had to walk round my house turning the lights on before I entered a room.
Believe me I don't scare easily. There ...

INTRODUCTION: KING'S CREEPY CANINE
******************************************************************
When it comes to author Stephen ... ...best film based on a Stephen King story will always be THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, and I'm still upset to this day that the Oscars ignored it completely (and I know I'm not alone in this camp). Frankly, most of the adaptations of his horror stories I think are genuine crap, including PET SEMETARY, CHILDREN OF THE CORN, GRAVEYARD SHIFT, and THINNER; I even found the largely hyped "IT" uninspired. Some of the better adaptations of King that I've found ...

one of the most powerful forces on earth...
Review of The Mummy Returns DVD by
spidercallum
Advantages: brilliant acting, great special effects, tonnes of special features, cheap
Disadvantages: feels as if special effects are prioty over acting, storyline wasn't as good
The most powerful force on earth is about to be unleashed by the two people who should know better.
- Introduction -
For those that haven't seen the original film, please go back to my profile and read that first! The Mummy released back in 1999 was a great film. I know most people, and me occasionally being one of them think a lot of sequels to movies are rubbish, especially compared to their originals. But this is where The Mummy Returns, released ... ...I watched this the night after The Mummy in time to see the new release The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor on the big screen!
- Plot -
Like the first Mummy, there's a scene at the beginning of the film that's set 5000 years prior to the story you're actually going to be watching - this just informs you a little about a villain you'll see later on in the movie called The Scorpion King (in which there was a spin off movie called The Scorpion King ...

ONLY ABOUT 13 GHOSTS
Review of 13 Ghosts / Darkness Falls / The Haunting DVD by
vader_ek2
Advantages: good compilation
Disadvantages: --
...will not admit this. Well, 13 Ghosts wallows in the fact that it is trash, throwing in all of the above plus some nudity and self-deprecation. This does not work, mostly because the plot collapses under its own ponderous weight about two-thirds of the way through the movie. 13 Ghosts turns into the typical horror movie, with all its characters making stupid decisions while the monsters chase them. This is a remake of the 1960 movie of the same name, ... ...The House on Haunted Hill. 13 Ghosts also takes place in a house that's haunted, but this house is different. It belonged to rich eccentric Cyrus Kriticos (F. Murray Abraham, Finding Forrester, The Darkling). Upon Cyrus' death, he willed the house to his nephew Arthur (Tony Shaloub, Spy Kids, Galaxy Quest), a down-on-his-luck math professor. Arthur, his daughter Kathy (Shannon Elizabeth, American Pie 2, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), son Bobby ...
