2 out of 3 ain't bad
Review of 3 Classic Horrors Of The Silver Screen - Vol. 2 - A Bucket Of Blood / House On Haunted Hill / The Ghoul DVD by
alvila
Advantages: A Bucket of Blood and House on Haunted Hill
Disadvantages: The Ghoul
A Bucket of Blood is one of my favourite classics. An enjoyable 'Wax Museum' genre that takes a slightly different approach. This time, the artist is actually very slow witted and has no talent, as you will see. He works at a coffee shop full of poets and art buffs and wants so desperately to join their world. So, one thing leads to another, and, if your familiar with the genre, you know how it goes. House on Haunted Hill is one of the great classics ... ...horror or is it murder-mystery. To answer that question, i would have to spoil it. So, watch and find out for yourself, you won't be dissappointed.
Unfortunately, The Ghoul is probably one of Karloff's worst. Karloff is one of my favourites, but he doesn't really act in this one. The story is very slow, and doesn't build up to anything all that shocking. Just some ancient Egyptian Mummy curse, some rich guy trying to be immortal. Nothing I haven't ...

The Terror is terrible
Review of The Terror DVD by
Phelthew
Advantages: I got for 99p (wait you want advantages)
Disadvantages: I wasted over an hour of my life. Well i laughed
...guy who has taken on the body and mind of teh duke. In my mind that pretty much makes him the duke. What else is left. There's nothing horrifying about despite the name. Ha God it's crap. I bought it for 99p and it's not worth any more than that. It's just so unbelievably stupid. This mightn't be the most articulate review ever but if you see this film you'll understand. It's also full of historical inaccuracies to name a few 1) Jack plays a napoleonic ... ...and he ends up beside the sea.
2) This Napolenic soldier dspite being really bad at orientation does eem to be quite clever as he has invented the revolver and given it to the onset of the 19th century
3) The Baron/duke who is apparently austrian but could be Italian if the geography worked out abit better prefers to adorn his castle in French and English standards rather than those of his own nation.
But the greatest shock is Francis Ford Coppolla ...

Frankensteins Man or Monster ?
Review of Frankenstein DVD by
dreamscancometrue
Advantages: classic movie
Disadvantages: a bit dated for the younger generation
...Clive as the Mad/Genius Doctor Frankenstein and Dwight Frye has is slightly retarded and deranged hunchbacked assistant.
Obsessed with the possibility of producing life from dead body parts, Frankenstein pushes the boundaries of science to the max.
Eventually after obtaining parts from the local morgue they have a male the body prepared, (Should of gone to the body shop). all they need now is a brain. Frankenstein's obsession at playing God, makes ... ...But is it the life Frankenstein wanted? Has he created the ultimate Man or Monster?
A very dated movie now, but one I think the older generation would still enjoy, even if just for remembering past movies,
My teenagers found it quite boring and certainly not frightening in the least, in fact if it wasn't so boring said one, it would be comical.
I quite preferred some of the later versions, with the flute playing Egore with his crooked broken neck.

To a brave new world of Gods and Monsters
Review of The Bride Of Frankenstein DVD by
TheNeil
Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: See review
...splat/gore movie Neil? Not in the slightest. My personal favourite, the film I love above all others barely scrapes into the horror genre anymore. A film so old it's only just in the sound era. After my review of Singin' In The Rain many may assume that that's the film I worship but the truth is even more bizarre, for indeed my celluloid love affair is with someone far different to Gene Kelly or Judy Garland. My most revered film of all times is...drum ... ...An ancient horror film from the depths of Hollywood history. And a sequel at that. All of this is true - The Bride IS a sequel and it IS ancient (1935 to be precise). For whatever reason (and hopefully I'll detail one or two of them) though it's held me spellbound ever since and hopefully you'll forgive me this labour of love as I review it. Will I be wearing rose tinted spectacles? Probably, but maybe I can inject enough enthusiasm to get more people ...
