Fox has great comic timing, but also provides some genuinely moving moments. Advantages: a mix of sci-fi, horror and dark comedy
Disadvantages: 1980s SPX and plot line is a little lacking

...first in the series of critters (4 movies of critters in total) with a cult follow and arguably the best of all 4. Starts out with the prison asteroid maximum security transport carrying a payload of Critons or Critters which are to put onto another ship. ...film boring. The film is from the 1980 so uses reverse frames and other crony SPX the cars and clothing out dated which does detract me from fully immersing myself in the film. Over all this film is great for people that are into Sci-fi films from the 1980s, with a bit of horror mixed in for good measure. Anyone who saw the original Alligator movie which was made some 11 years before this sequel will know what to expect here. What they probably also should have expected was a rather weak cash-in attempt as well which is exactly what this movie is. Alligator was never that brilliant in the first place, but it had a certain charm which allowed you to forgive its numerous shortcomings. ...in 1980 and consequently the alligator looks far far too fake for us to ever be in the slightest bit scared or even amused by the antics going on here. The plot is as basic as it comes and pinches most of its ideas from the original movie anyway. ...gold with adapting Lord Of The Rings then remaking and bettering King Kong. Fans of Jackson may want to check out this earlier effort before he was world famous, whilst not being on par with LOTR or KK it certainly has plenty of thrills to offer. ...movie got me interested from the start. I always wanted to know what happened next and even got a bit scared at some points. It also got me a bit sad when the dog got killed:( I wont spoil the movie by revealing all the plot but basically it's a story about a family who break down in the desert where they lie prey for a bunch of cannibals.
