I find the zombie genre very hit and miss. This, sadly, is a miss. It's not nearly as bad as David Moody's 'Autumn' series but it suffers from a complete lack of originality. The writing is often acceptable but the author has an annoying habit of slipping into the childish for part sentences and full paragraphs. Phantoms is the pinnacle of Koontz' horror writing. A woman and her younger sister arrive home at the small town where they live, up in the mountains, and find that everyone has vanished. The Vampire Pandora is asked to tell the story of her life, how she was born into darkness, and how she has survived so long. It's a wonderfully written life story, from Pandora's childhood to meeting her lover Marius for the first time, to coming into the "savage garden" as Lestat and Louis may say. It's a brilliant book for those wanting to see the Vampire life from an ancient females point of view, which isn't seen often through the Vampire Chronicles. ... Read review

Probably the 'purest' fantasy book written by King. Totally different from other books he has written. Excellent story, and another appearance from 'Flagg' will make his constant readers interested!
