A little different to her norm
Advantages: An engrossing read Disadvantages: Slow to start
...Vampire Chronicle!!!
Although its by the same author and later the two threads overlap (see blackwood farm) the style and characters are quite different. Rather than her traditional first person narative at which Rice excells we're stuck in the strange neverland of the omnipresent narrator, that cannot replace the awesome protagonists of earlier novels.
Despite this the all encompassing atmosphere that typifies Rice's book is still present particularly ... ...For the first few chapters you probably will be confused, but I think that's meant to be part of it, after the plot gets going its as captivating as any other book I've read.
Look out for the everpresent Talamasca, and enjoy a breather from the Brat Prince.
Not a good choice for your first Anne Rice but definately something worth reading for anyone who's vaguely interested in her other novels. ...

Mayfair Witch meets "the Brat Prince"
Advantages: Another excellent addition to the chronicles, Merrick is as real and flawed as all of Anne Rice' characters Disadvantages: None really
...an individual, human or immortal. Merrick comes across as a warm, charismatic, soulful young woman who has been damaged by her past and although she still struggles to come to terms with her own demons often hiding from them in a bottle of Bourbon, she has generally managed to turn these negatives into a deep concern and empathy for the suffering of others especially, in this case Louis who is still tortured by the death of Claudia. From her complicated ... ...which Lestat views her, Merrick stands very much at the centre of this story and we feel genuinely that Louis' survival is very much in the collective hands of his great friend and adversary, Lestat, wise David and the the hypnotic and compelling Merrick. The ending is almost inevitable but nonetheless satisfying. Merrick is a character that I very much hope we continue to meet in future chronicles. ...

Good grief, Anne Rice!
Advantages: Good book to read if never read Anne Rice books before Disadvantages: This is a sad tale, if you are looking for happy, don't read.
This is a great book to read if you have never read an Anne Rice tale before. This story is not part of a series as is her usual style with the Vampire Chronicles and the Tales of the Mayfair Witches. It is also a great book for any Anne Rice fan, to get a new story not related to the witches or vampires. I enjoyed this book very much, as I am a very big fan of Anne's, and have read all of the vampire and witch tales. I was ready for a new story, ... ...is a very sad tale of tricks and long suffering, so those of you looking for a happy story will want to go with something else. However, if you are a horror fan, or like plot twists or detailed descriptive background stories of deceipt and trickery, not to mention ghosts and the like, then this is a book for you.
It is an excellent tale of grief and long suffering, as told by the main character in a style similar to Interview with the Vampire. If ...

Lasher
Advantages: any Anne rice fan will enjoy this Disadvantages: flicks from one thing to another in the middle
Lasher is book 2 out of 3 of the mayfair witch trilogy (the witching hour, Lasher and Taltos) if you haven't read the first book then this review will be of no use, i can't put anymore information as it will spoil the first book.It continues the story of Rowan Mayfair and Michael Curry. In the witching hour we meet Lasher as only a spirit who has been helping/haunting the powerful Mayfair witches.
It becomes obvious that he wants to become of the ... ...Michael Curry and haunted by Lasher the spirit Lasher having now been reborne of Rowan Mayfair and keeping her prisoner now wants to reproduce more demons like himself,( but can he do it with Rowan or other Mayfair females) mainly a female so they produce a strong demon to help them get their ideal goal. Can the Mayfair family stop this goal?
we also meet all the members of the Mayfair family and find out why it was Rowan who had this adventure.

Talltos
Advantages: A great story Disadvantages: Rather long
In the typical Anne Rice style, this book is a page turner. Once I started it, it was hard to put it down. This book follows The Mayfair Witches and Lasher. I read it first and was a bit confused as to the story line, but as I got into the book, it made little difference that I hadn't read the other two before it. Though after reading this book, it made me want to read the other's before it.
An ancient race of beings older than man. They breed in ... ...Taltos that the Mayfair witches met, and when he was distroyed, they assumed that he was the only one of his kind. But they were wrong, because there is another.
Ashlar is legendary of the Taltos. He seems so innocent and pure, but he has done and suffered so much wrong in his time. He lives to serch for another of his kind. Ash is the last of his kind, a Taltos.
This story is the not just Ashlar's story, but the stroy of all the Taltos. How they ...
