Some People Are Meant To Stay Forever
Review of Black River - Dean Koontz by helen27

Advantages: Quite funny and interesting twists
Disadvantages: confusing at times, puts you off small towns

...he discovers the town of Black River in Northern California. Despite the beautiful setting, Bo begins to feel unsettled after several disturbing incidents. He decides to leave, but his efforts to leave are mysteriously thwarted and he is forced to stay. In the hotel, he discovers that all of his money has been transferred to a bank account in Black River, and a house has been purchased for him by someone on "his" instructions. Astonished and disturbed, ...
...you do it. There is one thing that I was dissapointed about and that was that it doesn't really explain what is happening very clearly, I found that I was wondering at the end of the book "What IS happening in Black River?" but maybe that is the point. ... Read review

Great Book
Review of The Eyes of the Dragon - Stephen King by tarachen

Advantages: Related to Dark Tower, good story
Disadvantages: Basic story line not that orginal maybe!

Probably the 'purest' fantasy book written by King. Totally different from other books he has written. Excellent story, and another appearance from 'Flagg' will make his constant readers interested! The story takes place in a world during medieval times. It centers on the King's death. Flagg insures that the older, and more honest son, is imprisoned for his murder. Flagg then corrupts the younger son and new king. The inevitable, but rather ingenious, ... Read review

The Best vampire novel ever?
Review of Interview with a Vampire - Anne Rice by Jameshardy88

Advantages: A compelling, engaging read
Disadvantages: Not the longest book ever written

...thankfully not the case with Interview with the vampire. The story focuses around the long life of the vampire Louis de Point du lac, his relationship with his creator Lestat, his role as a father figure to Claudia and his quest for answers and meaning all Whilst he stuggles to adapt, appreciate and accept his new vampiric nature. I personally found the book not only a compelling exciting read but also enjoyed some of the philosophy and ideas explored ... Read review

Excellent...better than his more famous rivals???
Review of Slugs - Shaun Hutson by LARocker182

Advantages: Excellently written and unputdownable!
Disadvantages: Some may find it a little too gory in places!

...Although the concept of killer slugs is somewhat hard to grasp, "they are small and squirmy...how scary can they be", the actual book is excellent. Shaun Hutson is an excellent horror writer and if you've been reading the likes of Stephen King, James Herbert, and Dean Koontz, then you've missed one out and need to discover Shaun Hutson. His writing style is so much clearer than that of Stephen King for example who I sometimes find to be a bit rambling ...
...You must remember that this book is somewhat classic horror now following in the style of The Rats and Night of The Crabs, if you loved these of indeed like 80s horror then this is a must read as it stands the test of time and you almost forget its age and could mistake it for a newer publication. Also a quick work of warning this book is not for the faint hearted as Shaun Hutson's graphic horror scenes are just that GRAPHIC they leave little to ... Read review
