A romantic and funny adventure entwined with cultural differences
Advantages: Very absorbing and you can be drawn deeply into the philosophy of life Disadvantages: Has too much of a central theme without sufficient subplots
INTRODUCTION
Poor communication is often the downful of many promising relationships. However, when that breakdown of communication is based on cultural differences then it can lead to painfully funny results. THE STORY
David Nobbs is the well known creator of the comedy character ' Reggie Perrin' and this influence rubbs off on the main character, Alan Clacutt, had achieved the heights of distinction as an Oxford University Philosophy Don and ... ...by chance. Both fall for each other as close friends and the differences in backgrounds, culture and values start to rub off on each other. As Alan desparately tries to teach Ange the finer pointes of academia and philosophy, he starts to question his own view of life. What follows is a fascinating and funny journey of self discovery, misunderstandings and realisation.
MY THOUGHTS
A lighted hearted and engaging read. Despite the academic excellence ...

Carrie by Stephen King, amazing mind catching thriller
Advantages: wonderful storyline, great imagination Disadvantages: not suitable for younger readers
...and book.
The storyline to Carrie is intelligent and well written, in my opinion it is a wonderful film, and unlike some horrors, it scares you not through gore and making you leap out of your seat with fear, but it uses clever and insightful language and real life experiences which i believe makes a better horror any day. All of the Stephen King books and films i have seen through my time has made me into a great fan of his work he is a wonderful ...

Cell from Hell
Advantages: Good Story, entertaining, quick read Disadvantages: Disappointing ending, not as descriptive as other King novels
CELL
STEPHEN KING
I have come to the decision that Stephen King doesn't care much for modern technology-or the people who've created much of what we now rely on for everything in life day to day. In some of his other books, King has created worlds where Man-made viruses wipe out more than 99% of the world's population leaving the survivors facing a battle of biblical proportions. Cars inhabited by evil spirits kill people, or all the ... ...he hates mobile phones (or cell phones as we are being American in this book), and I don't think he cares much for the people who use them, uncaring of those around them. It certainly is a fact that we have become a society hooked on those little appliances, leaving manners, good sense and privacy to one side as we chatter and text away. In his own warped way King shows what could happen IF. If someone created some sort of virus-called in the book ...

Doing It Doggy Style
Advantages: Strong, deep characters. Disadvantages: A little "busy" in the middle
Cujo is a Saint Bernard belonging to young Brett Camber in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine. One day, Cujo chases a rabbit down a bolt hole that leads to cave that is home to a swarm of rabid bats. Cujo is bitten, and rapidly changes from loving family pet to vicious monster.
That's the story in a nutshell, but King is able to take this deeper with superb characterisation, sub-plots and self-referencing. For example, many characters from ... ...is a violent story, and in parts the text is sharp, direct and brutal.
Cujo retails at £6.99. You can buy it from book shops such as WH Smiths, Borders and Waterstones. It is available online from Amazon. I got my copy for 50p from a car boot sale. ...

Miles ahead of the competition
Advantages: Classic Stephen King: horror, suspense, everything Disadvantages: Not much to say here
This is pure and simply a Stephen King absolutle class-ic.
The book orientates around two friends, one of whom (Arnie) buys a used car. However this is no ordinary used car - it comes alive at night and kills mercilessly all those who wish to come between it and Arnie. The book occurs in various stages, from different character points of view.
This is a really original idea and Stephen King has constructed the story and written it in fantastic ... ...involves of the associated physcological and physical horror, boasting a healthy mix of both blood/gore and more deeply terrifying moments. You really connect and feel for the characters, and one feel s a strong degree of empathy at a certain point in particular (you'll have to read it, but I think you'll know when you reach it).
On the downside, theres not alot to say. I suppose it may lack a certain degree of appeal if cars are of no interest ...
