Gruesome but good

Advantages: Good plot, very likeable characters and very scary villain
Disadvantages: Quick to read, like most of Koontz' stuff

Advantages: Coming of age story works well, nostalgic feel.
Disadvantages: The Dark Tower element feels almost "tagged on".
