Review of Hell To Pay - Shaun Hutson by
tuftie
Advantages: Hutson back on form
Disadvantages: None
...plane/beach/at the villa/etcetera. I spotted Hell To Pay in a rack of paperbacks. I decided to give it a go. What did I have to lose? It's free to borrow from the library, so if it's rubbish; c'est la vie.
It wasn't rubbish. It was great. A return to form. A return to the good old days of sex and violence, troubled maverick coppers and underlying supernatural terror.
Here's a summary of the plot and characters: DI Alan Fielding is investigating ... ...was a nice touch.
Hell To Pay retails at £6.99, which is the going rate for a paperback. I got it out of the library for free. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes horror fiction, particularly if you enjoy urban British horror. I also recommend you join your local library. Two for one special.
Review of Hybrid - Shaun Hutson by
atticusuk
Advantages: Entertaining with a good twist to the end
Disadvantages: None really
...their opinion were better and Hybrid was one of those so I took the plunge.
When I got the book I was a bit worried about the cover as if I had seen this on a bookshelf I would have assumed it was a horror story and left it well alone however the reviewer and the blurb on the back suggested something different so I switched all the lights on in the house (just incase) and started to read. It was only after I finished the book that I noticed it does ... ...the case I would say it is at the mild end of the horror spectrum.
The Plot
The plot evolves around one single character, a once famous writer Christopher Ward whose career is very much in decline. He leads a solitary life in a rather large house struggling with periods of writers block as he struggles to write his latest novel. Increasingly he seeks to find comfort in alcohol and the occasional sexual encounter with a prostitute other than that ...

Beautiful69
Advantages: The Plot And Storyline Is Immense
Disadvantages: Complicated In Some Parts - Read Properly If You Want Full Understanding :)
...I persuaded him to buy it for us and my brother to watch (ever do DVD nights? No, neither do we! But I thought it would be a nice change). I liked the film. Not really scary, but I really liked the idea of a killer clown. Imagine my delight when I heard there was a book out which apparently was absolutley brilliant.
The main characters are The "Losers Club" :
Beverly Marsh - The only female of the group.. A fiesty, pretty 11 year old redhead whose ... ...shape-shifting monster referred to as IT is killing innocent children, until seven wily youngsters fight back; The Losers Club. After individual and group encounters with IT - who takes the form of their biggest fears (but mostly as a terrifying clown named Pennywise) - the youngsters decide to destroy the creature. Enter the Ritual Of Chüd, fighting IT down in the sewers. Thinking they have destroyed IT, the 11 and 12 year olds soon go their separate ...

Review of The Long Walk - Stephen King by
marria-x
Advantages: Feels like you know the characters
Disadvantages: Ermmmm
The Long Walk is a book written by Stephen King under the pen name Richard Bachman. It is part of the Bachman Books which are all set in the future. It is the story about several different men and their journey through the country as they take part in a gruelling 450 mile long marathon which is the ultimate sports challenge. With merciless heat and limited rations, their prize if they win is a huge amount of money. Most of the men die and the book ... ...who are taking part. The Long Walk was written by King in 1966 but even today , it is read by many people. It is an excellent read and i would recommend it to anyone who liked horror books. You would like this book if you liked Rage or The Running Man. ...
