I have always considered him a master of the form and, if anything, a better short story writer than he is a novelist - though I'm sure he wouldn't be too pleased to hear it. Compared to his early superlative collections I have to say 'Everything's Eventual' is something of a mixed bag. Disadvantages: Too many ramblings about relationships at the expense of the plot.

...have been sharply divided over the direction this longstanding series has taken: a quick Google will bring up some highly entertaining spats on assorted chat forums. Basically, if you enjoyed the earlier books but got freaked out by the kinky sex that started featuring more and more heavily after Narcissus in Chains then there's going to be plenty more to freak you through the wall and back in this one.
