Advantages: Excellently conceived and realised alternative history; epic historical scale yet with memorable and very believable characters; good sense of extrapolation.
Disadvantages: May be slightly too wordy for the tastes of some readers; title and publisher blurb gives the impression of a horror novel which is false; out of print.
