The fog by James Herbert... Can't get much better than James.H Advantages: Great for lovers of gore, Amazing story line and really easy to get into Disadvantages: I guess the gore if you aren't it to that type of thing! ...am a huge fan of the author James Herbert and was bought a load of his books for my birthday. I decided to read this one first and I am so glad I did. I found the book really gripping and was able to finish the book in a matter of days. Althought this isn't one of my favourite James Herbert books I did find it very readable and couldn't really put it down. Unfortunately with books I always try and guess the ending but I was unable to guess the correct ... ...the gore just heightened my interest. I really enjoyed the fact that you got to learn about the characters in the book rather than having to guess what went on in their lives. The attention to detail on the characters was amazing, it really made you feel that you understood what the character was going through. I would definitely recommend this book to others and I have already started giving out the ones I have already read! ... A good read Advantages: Worth the money and is a good read. Disadvantages: Had no social life through this book. The dark tower. The gunslinger. The first part of the dark tower series is 'The gunslinger'. The story is set in a fantasy world about 'Roland of Gilead' the last of the gunslingers. The hero is on a quest to find the mysterious dark tower whilst also hunting 'The man in black', who you don't get introduced to until near the end. On his quest 'The gunslinger' meets other strange and wonderfull characters which make the book more readable, one of ... ...strange world. Although i thought the book was fantastic it seemed at times the story wasn't progressing, but towards the end it picked up again and i couldn't put it down. I was then just waiting to get my hands onto the second part. I paid £7.99 from WHSmith but this was a couple of years ago and is probably alot cheaper now. The Secret of Crickley Hall. Advantages: FANTASTIC READ Disadvantages: NOTHING The Secret of Crickley Hall. We begin the book at Crickley Hall and right from the start you can feel that this place is a troubled place, a place of great unhappiness and evil. The book initially centres around the family Caleigh. Father Gabe, his wife Eve and their two daughters Cally and Loren. They have an unhappy past, there should have been a son, Cameron, who disappeared one day and has never been seen since. This ... ...to terrifying! Located in the Devils Gorge in Devon and seemingly always shrouded by rain and chilling mists, Crickley Hall is a grim and awful place. Why Gabe would go there with his family is the only fault to the story this book has. The house holds dark secrets revolving aound starvation, torture, child abuse and murder. Review: Stephen King's - The Shining Advantages: Birliant story, realistic book Disadvantages: None ...enjoyed reading them at night. The Shining isn't an exception. I was reading it after midnight for about 1 month. It was really exciting expierence. I was really scared while and after reading this book, because everything was written in book, seemed to be pretty realistic. Would I recommend you to read this book ? Yes! Why ? A little different to her norm Advantages: An engrossing read Disadvantages: Slow to start ...Vampire Chronicle!!! Although its by the same author and later the two threads overlap (see blackwood farm) the style and characters are quite different. Rather than her traditional first person narative at which Rice excells we're stuck in the strange neverland of the omnipresent narrator, that cannot replace the awesome protagonists of earlier novels. Despite this the all encompassing atmosphere that typifies Rice's book is still present particularly ... ...For the first few chapters you probably will be confused, but I think that's meant to be part of it, after the plot gets going its as captivating as any other book I've read. Look out for the everpresent Talamasca, and enjoy a breather from the Brat Prince.
