A little different to her norm
Advantages: An engrossing read Disadvantages: Slow to start
...Vampire Chronicle!!!
Although its by the same author and later the two threads overlap (see blackwood farm) the style and characters are quite different. Rather than her traditional first person narative at which Rice excells we're stuck in the strange neverland of the omnipresent narrator, that cannot replace the awesome protagonists of earlier novels.
Despite this the all encompassing atmosphere that typifies Rice's book is still present particularly ... ...For the first few chapters you probably will be confused, but I think that's meant to be part of it, after the plot gets going its as captivating as any other book I've read.
Look out for the everpresent Talamasca, and enjoy a breather from the Brat Prince.
Not a good choice for your first Anne Rice but definately something worth reading for anyone who's vaguely interested in her other novels. ...

The softer side of Herbert.
Advantages: A good introduction Disadvantages: A little mild for Herbert
...and gore, but brilliant just the same.
This is story that shows you sometimes the most beautiful things can also be the most terrifying.
When moving to a beautiful run down cottage in the country in order to escape the hussle and bussle of city life, Midge and Mike thought they had found their haven, Wild animals on the door step, love and creativity.
But in true Herbert style things aren't as they seem, the neighbours are a little strange to ...

Necropolis by Anthony Horowitz
Advantages: The language and the story-line is reallly intriguing. Disadvantages: I honestly cannot think of any.
...written by Anthony Horowitz, is the fourth installment of the "Power of Five", 5 book series about 5 children who have the power to save the world from evil creatures called "The Old Ones". The book starts before "Nightrise" ends, but from the point of view of Scarlett Adams, the protaganist and the fifth gatekeeper. There is a brief review of all 4 previous books incase the reader cannot remember or has missed a book out in the series, which I found ... ...It starts off straight into the action as a 13 year old Scarlett almost gets hit by a van whilst not looking when crossing a road. She is saved by a mysterious chinese man who disappears before she can thank him for his actions. The book then moves 2 years into the future and Scarlett is on a school trip when she passes through a door and travels to a monastary in the Ukraine, where she is imprisoned. Scarlett then meets Father Gregory, a terrifyingly ...

The Stand
Advantages: Characters, once you start u cant stop! Disadvantages: Size means it might take some time to get through.
...friend who told me that The Stand is by far the best of all Stephen King novels. After getting over the shock of how big the book is (i much prefer a shorter read!) I read the first chapter, and literally couldnt put it down again. For those of you that dont know the plot then i dont think i could really sum it up for you without cheapening the story, but as with all King novels the narrative is very much character driven, with lots of different ... ...into with each characters different story helps to create the suspense and atmosphere that makes him one of the greatest writers of our time. I cant recomend this book enough, but whatever you do, DONT watch the cheaply made straight to TV adaptation instead! The word 'butchered' springs to mind. ...
