Where Dimensions Collide... In No Man's Land
Advantages: Well-written, mysterious, fascinating story with fantastic characters. Disadvantages: None
After years of hunting down the man in black, things didn’t necessarily go as planned for Roland at the end of ‘The Gunslinger’ [book 1 in ‘The Dark Tower’ series].
His obsession with the Dark Tower is as strong as ever, however, there are other forces at play – forces far more powerful and dangerous than the man in black ever was – it’s no longer a question of what Roland wants, more is it a question of what he is prepared to do in order to get ... ...Drawing of the Three’.
Having been told a bit of his future by the man in black during their ultimate standoff in the first book [The Gunslinger], Roland awakens at the start of ‘The Drawing of the Three’ on a desolate beach, not seven hours after this confrontation. His awakening is far from a gentle one… Roland is being attacked by a giant sea creature with deadly pincers. Obviously a mutated form of lobster, Roland quickly discovers that it may ...

Cell from Hell
Advantages: Good Story, entertaining, quick read Disadvantages: Disappointing ending, not as descriptive as other King novels
CELL
STEPHEN KING
I have come to the decision that Stephen King doesn't care much for modern technology-or the people who've created much of what we now rely on for everything in life day to day. In some of his other books, King has created worlds where Man-made viruses wipe out more than 99% of the world's population leaving the survivors facing a battle of biblical proportions. Cars inhabited by evil spirits kill people, or all the ... ...he hates mobile phones (or cell phones as we are being American in this book), and I don't think he cares much for the people who use them, uncaring of those around them. It certainly is a fact that we have become a society hooked on those little appliances, leaving manners, good sense and privacy to one side as we chatter and text away. In his own warped way King shows what could happen IF. If someone created some sort of virus-called in the book ...

A romantic and funny adventure entwined with cultural differences
Advantages: Very absorbing and you can be drawn deeply into the philosophy of life Disadvantages: Has too much of a central theme without sufficient subplots
INTRODUCTION
Poor communication is often the downful of many promising relationships. However, when that breakdown of communication is based on cultural differences then it can lead to painfully funny results. THE STORY
David Nobbs is the well known creator of the comedy character ' Reggie Perrin' and this influence rubbs off on the main character, Alan Clacutt, had achieved the heights of distinction as an Oxford University Philosophy Don and ... ...by chance. Both fall for each other as close friends and the differences in backgrounds, culture and values start to rub off on each other. As Alan desparately tries to teach Ange the finer pointes of academia and philosophy, he starts to question his own view of life. What follows is a fascinating and funny journey of self discovery, misunderstandings and realisation.
MY THOUGHTS
A lighted hearted and engaging read. Despite the academic excellence ...

Dead as a Doornail-book 5 of Sookie Stackhouse series
Advantages: Packed with action and good storyline Disadvantages: No for me
This is the fifth installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series and trust me; it is probably one of the best in the series so far for me. The story picks up from what Charlaine left off in the previous book. Jason successfully incorporates his new life as a two-natured werepather. Just when everything seems to be going fine, shootings begins in the area and unknown to the police, all the victims are shape shifters. Sookie has to take the matter in ... ...her boss Sam both get shot, and her brother becomes a suspect among the shape shifter community as he was turned against his will. As a favor, Eric lends one of his bartenders Charles Twinning to Sam while he recovers from the accident. After the issue with the bar is settled, Sookie finds herself in another series of troubles before making any progress of clearing her brother’s name. Colonel Flood, the pack master of Shreveport, has passed away ...

There was a crooked man
Advantages: Great story Disadvantages: A bit dark sometimes
...fan, I was hooked from the first few pages of his first novel Every Dead Thing, and although this book wasn't part of the Charlie Parker series I wanted to read it. Synopsis Set during the war, the story follows David who is a young boy who suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, he is compelled to tap items such as the tap an even number of times before and after he uses them. Eventually his father gets remarried and pretty soon David has a half brother. David feels alone in this new situation and he is angry at the world, and is angry at his new brother Georgie.
