I have brought this magazine for many years and have jst started subscribing. It was at first a great place to find equipment for sale and help me find a new horse. It has many great help sections on different riding areas and lots of quality images. This magazine also helps me keep up to date in the horse world and is not just limited to the usual show jumping and dressage aspects. Everybody at my yard reads this magazine and I would not have my beloved horse if it wasn't for their classified section. The magazine has helped me with searches for equestrian properties and directed me to some very helpful equestrian shops, clubs and services. I started on pong magazine, the juniour version of this magazine as a young girl and now I have matured onto this more adult version.
Advantages: Well Illustrated. Good Writing. Informative Disadvantages: Editorial Slant Will Not Appeal to All
...reviews. There are sections on horse racing and some practical advice pieces. A recent issue, for example, gave tips on horse trailer travel. Extensive news items are published including results of equestrian events, dressage competitions and such like.Equestrian shows are featured and several articles are published on dogs. Horse and Hound has a web site located at www.horseandhound.co.uk and among stories currently featured on the site are the likes ... ...Attack.." and "... Funding Needed for Disabled Rider's Horses...". This glossy rather posh publication is clearly aimed at the well-heeled,"horsey" type readership but it does contain material that those who are not of that "ilk" could find enlightening and interesting. Technically it is a well produced publication, the quality of the illustrations are very good indeed and so to is the quality of the writing. I can well appreciate that many would ...

Advantages: Classifieds Disadvantages: Too expensive, boring
Horse and Hound magazine is my least favourite of all the equestrian magazines. I find it very patronising and doesn't have enough articles in it that the everyday rider can relate to. It comes out every week and is quite expensive and really mounts up if you want to read every issue. It has news on what is going on in the equestrian world in each discipline including hunting, eventing, dressage and racing. All of these articles are in my opinion ... ...when I read it I only read the show jumping page if I read all of that. I feel that the articles are too long and I often find them quite repetitive. Also, half the magazine is wasted just with results pages from every show you can think of that has happened that week which I think is a little unnecessary. Overall, I find that there are much better equestrian magazines out there at more reasonable prices including much more relevant information and ...

Advantages: excellent coverage on all horse sports Disadvantages: not for the anti - hunting
Horse and Hound, although traditionally a hunting magazine, covers all spheres of the equestrian world, from carriage driving to showing. The racing pages are extensive and cover all the major events, as do the showing and showjumping pages. There is also a great range of horses for sale every week, from childrens' riding ponies to international grade A eventers. The commentary for all the national events os up to date and informative, and equally ...

Advantages: reports, classified, writing Disadvantages: racing reports are probably better in the racing post
As a horse owner I regularly buy this magazine especially in the winter when jump racing is at its peak in the season. As little girl I dreamed I would have a picture of me and pony in here and still wish that now!
Horse and Hound magazine is a bible for the equestrian enthusiast as it contains reports and news of all aspects of riding. The articles are usually quite general and apply to most horse lovers. They are often on new topics or those in ... ...how old people are!
The horse and hound is probably most famous for is extensive classified section. The horses for sale section is massive and is divided up by height and price so it is easy to search from a horse you could buy, The range of other classified adverts are good and there should be something for everyone.
My personal favourite part of the magazine is the photo on the last page. It is often of somehting unusual and contains a few paragraphs ...

Advantages: Reasonably priced, well established, informative publication Disadvantages: Not for anti-blood sports
I have been reading Horse and Hound for many years now. It is a well laid out informative magazine for every level of equestrianism. The articles are of interest to both beginners and professionals, which is where it has the advantage over many other equestrian publications. It is very competitively priced and has plenty of content. The veterinary articles are of particular interest. In addition for racing fans there's a column by well known trainer ...

Advantages: Effortless read - easy on the eye - good value Disadvantages: It isn't the Times Literary Supplement
...NOW Magazine is a weekly-published celebrity gossip magazine. It costs just £1.00 for approximately 100 pages. It's published by IPC Media Limited - a huge media company that's part of Time Warner. There are approximately 65+ magazines and periodicals within the IPC stable - favourites including Horse & Hound, TV Times, Country Life, Loaded, NME, Marie Claire and Family Circle to name but a few.
NOW Magazine runs under the banner of "the UK's bestselling celebrity magazine", but it's really impossible to prove or disprove this claim as this market seems to have recently been flooded by lots of new titles (Heat, Star, Closer). The celebrity gossip arena is a burgeoning and highly popular market. However, NOW was one of the first off the block as it's been on our shelves for over 5+ years now.
So what do you get for £1...
