...visited Makro I saw the Hoselock flexible recoiling hose. There were two on show; one had just a single connector each end of the hose at a price of £9.99 and the other had the connectors and a Multi Spray Gun for cleaning and watering; they were both the same length at 15m (50ft) with a diameter of 10mm (3/8").
I was with a friend at the time who opted to buy one of each, one for the front garden and one for the back. I only ... ...was a good choice as my friend had to return the cheaper one as it would not fit on her outside tap.
The Multi Spray Gun
================
The Multi Spray gun is very easy to use. It has a fine rose spray head, has an on/off trigger and variable flow control. You have to squeeze the trigger to operate and has a 'lock on' button for continuous spray and by squeezing the trigger again the lock comes off. There is a knob ... more
I have had my present garden hose and reel for some five years now and it is really getting on my nerves, kinking at the tap and reel connectors, so that I have to keep cutting bits off and even at some places along the hose. When winding it back on the reel you have to be so careful that it doesn't kink. If it stays like that for a few days it is so old that a kink stays a kink
It got so bad last week that I lost my temper with it and decided to go and look to see what was on the market. I had originally thought of getting a flat hose, but when I visited Makro I saw the Hoselock flexible recoiling hose.
I only wanted one so chose the dearer of the two, which was a good choice as my friend had to return the cheaper one as it would not fit on her outside tap.
The Multi Spray Gun ================ The Multi Spray gun is very easy to use. It has a fine rose spray head, has an on/off trigger and variable flow control. You have to squeeze the trigger to operate and has a 'lock on' button for continuous spray and by squeezing the trigger again the lock comes off. There is a knob at the rear of the gun which, when turned to the right , directs the water flow to the centre jet and left to direct flow to the rose. You can turn the rose head to adjust the pattern, from a fine spray for delicate plants to a fierce one for cleaning.
The Hose ======== The hose I bought is green, not blue as shown in the picture. It was very easy to assemble by following the simple written and illustrated instructions, but you did need a bit of strength to push to hose over the connection nozel.
Attaching the Hose =============== After fixing the special nozel onto the tap the hose connector was easy to attach. The water stop connector at the spray gun end is easy to disconnect, enabling you to change to other attachments without getting soaked. Incidentally, I have found that all my attachments from my old hose set also fit into this connector; so although it does not state so on the paperwork I feel it is most likely universal.
Conclusion ========= I have now used this lightweight and flexible recoiling hose four or five times and have found it easy to use. I thought being spiral there could be some resistence the further you go up the garden, but this was not the case. The variation in spray is good both for the garden and when cleaning the car, garden furniture etc. and is very easy to adjust during use.
If there is anything against it I would say that at the moment it is curled up on the ground by the tap, which is ok during the summer months, but it does look untidy. Of course If there is a hose ban, which seems on the cards this year, and during the winter months, it would fit easily into a small bag and could be stowed away in the shed, etc., taking up very little space.
The Spiral Hose Set is guaranteed for 1 year against faults arising from defective manufacture or materials. The part numbers are clearly shown on the instruction leaflet, as is the address, fax and telephone numbers of Hozelock.
I have been very impressed with this Spiral Hose and would highly recommend it. In my travels I have not seen a longer one so you would be restricted to 15m, plus the length of the spray of course, so it is only useful for the smaller garden.
Advantages: Easy to move around with and easy to put away Disadvantages: Unsuitable for a large gardens
Having no outdoor tap and an indoor tap that wasn’t designed to take a hose pipe, the only way to water our garden was by carting a watering can around.
The first year in this house that wasn’t too bad as there was nothing but weeds growing in the garden and the few plants I had in pots were easily dealt with. The second year I got ill and although I still cared for and tried to develop some of the garden, Richard, my partner was always at hand ... ...however, I got well and truly fed up with it. There are far more plants in the garden now and watering everything meant at least a couple of dozen trips from kitchen to garden, and then another two or three to do the rockery, baskets and tubs at the front. My mobility is impaired thanks to dodgy veins so there was simply no way I was going to manage to march back and forth wielding a heavy watering can throughout the entire summer. A plumber was ...

You may not have heard of these before, and probably never used one, you may even think it is a gimmick. This is not the case, they are really rather good. Many years ago, I needed to extend my old garden hose, I did this by using an old curly "Suzi" airline from an artic, (I had been using this as a supply for my spraygun) this seemed to do the job a treat, and basically it looks like someone has pinched my idea, although I may not have been the ... ...like normal hosepipes.
Standard fittings accept appliances made by Hozelock as well as other firms. You can plug into a lawn sprinkler, or a MiracleGro feeder, wateriing lance etc.
Made by Hozelock (with a Z - take note Ciao) so quality made.
Available everywhere at a reasonable price, check out the usual DIY superstores. You could extend it but read cons, If you don't need the flow, then you can join two together, or even more.
Easy to stow, ...
