Hi guys, I'm 30 & live with my hubby and fat cat in Coventry, although I'm from Sunny (?) Wolverhampton originally. My fave topics for reviews are holidays, hotels and travel - my all time favourite pastime, although I do diversify ocassionally! Enjoy!

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in May 2004, having booked it completely blind over the internet. Suffice to say we were more than a little nervous on the journey there, as we hadn't seen any independent information or reviews on this hotel at all.
However, we couldn't have been happier - this hotel is in a great location - only a few minutes walk from the main train station in the centre of Milan and local metro stations, yet on a small side street so while disturbance from traffic noise is limited you still feel really central. In the surrounding area are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants etc, so you've not got to travel far for anything really.
The hotel itself is great value for money - clean, neat and although marked as only 2 star, definitely deserves at least 3. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English well (much better than our Italian!), and the hotel even has a resident pet terrapin!! As far as facilities are concerned, the hotel has a small bar which serves tea, coffee, pastries etc as well (I think) as some alcoholic drinks. You can choose to have breakfast at the hotel, which is served in the conservatory or garden. During our stay, however, we tended to eat on the go, so preferred to grab something from the fabulous and really cheap bakery just over the road on our way into town.
As for the rooms, the hotel is split into two buildings - one of which contains the reception area and bar, the other of which is directly opposite. Both buildings have got very good levels of security and are gated from public access. Our room was in the second building and, unfortunately, was the first room inside the main doors, which meant that (as the door to the room was not particularly thick) we heard everyone who came in or went out of our building. The noise wasn't terrible and certainly didn't ruin our stay, but a quieter room would have been nice - unfortunately they were fully booked so we could not swap.
Our double room was quite small, but by no means cramped, and there was plenty of room for the two of us. It looked out onto a small garden, and as it was a ground floor room we were pleased that the patio windows were secured with a large metal gate. The bed was a good double size and very comfy, and our sheets were changed every day of our stay. The bathroom had a shower, toilet, bidet and sink, with a heated towel rail too (not that we needed it - we had clean towels each day too). It unfortunately did not have a bath (a nice long soak after a hard day's sightseeing would have been appreciated) but the shower was powerful and there was a plentiful supply of hot water! As well as a hairdryer there were also complimentary shower gels and shampoos left for us, which was a nice touch that was unexpected from a 2* hotel!
The room contained a telephone, a safe and a TV, which had a couple of english speaking channels including BBC world service, MTV & CNN (not that you travel all the way to Milan to catch up on TV!!)
All in all this was an excellent hotel, and one that I would not hesitate to recommend if you're after a great (but reasonable!)sightseeing base in central milan!
