A hotel, made out of chocolate?
Hotel Chocolat - Hotel Chocolat is a British luxury chocolate brand founded over 15 years ago by Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris. It started as a catalogue based business and now has a number of outlets across the country.
Walking into a Hotel Chocolat shop is an adventure in itself. The stores are decorated very simply and classically in my opinion. They are quite bright and welcoming and have a black trimming in the decor which I think gives it a hint of glamour. All the products are displayed well around the shop allowing you to browse at all the wonderful things on sale. The black trimming of the shop also carries over to the products and makes up the packaging which is very dramatic and fitting for good quality chocolate in my opinion.
What I love about Hotel Chocolat is that they have some beautiful looking chocolate which has unusual tastes. One of their famous product lines they have is a chocolate slab range. These are thick slabs of premium chocolate, made with natural ingredients and covered with delicious topping. The chocolate is either dark, milk or white and toppings include Rocky Road, Strawberry Creme and Chilli & Orange. The slabs come in different sizes, the big ones are 500g and cost £11.75 and the mini 100g slabs costs £3.75. They make fabulous gifts or just for you to eat yourself.
Easter is also a great time in Hotel Chocolat. They do some wonderful eggs that are very different from the usual Cadburys offerings. They have big chunky shells with lots of mini gourmet eggs inside with wonderful names such as the EGGibitionist!
All the chocolates and the way they package them up are really top quality and just the look of the product is enough to make you want to buy the whole store. They are more expensive than regular chocolates but I see it as either buying a treat or a nice gift for someone that is different from the ordinary.
You can buy the chocolates over the web but I definitely recommend a visit to one of their wonderful stores. They seem to have quite a good covering of stores across the country, for example, Cambridge, London, Manchester and York to name but a few.
