After my 4 year old Servis gave up the ghost, I decided to try Hotpoint based on a personal recommendation.
On delivery and installation of this machine, first impressions were really good. The door and its locking mechanism has a nice solid feel to it and feels it will stand the test of time. A very neat design touch is the integration of the console onto the door itself, which gives the machine a modern look that should compliment any kitchen. The console itself is well laid out, with 3 seperate displays showing temperature, spin and time remaining as well as the usual programme selection dial and the wash option buttons.
Now all of the above is meaningless if the machine's washing abilities can't match is smart looks. Putting detergent in the soap drawer takes a bit of getting used to, as the drawer is hidden behind the machine's door, but this prevents the ingress of dirt, which is handy.
There is a wide selection of programmes, including fast wash, silks, wool (certified by Woolmark) and the usual cottons and synthetics. If you are eco-minded, pressing the Miniload button can reduce the water and electricity intake for smaller loads, which causes the ECO light to come on. There is a strange sensation of a clear conscience by pressing that button...
Boy, this machine is quiet!!! It is barely audible during its washing and rinsing modes, and only becomes more vocal on high spin settings. I have tried most of the programmes, including the Silk setting, and each and every one cleans to perfection. The clothes come out feeling really fresh and smelling nice. The drum is large enough to take a double-sized duvet (and provides a Duvet programme). Hotpoint even give you a washbag for delicate items and a well written manual and quick guide.
This machine is flawless. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Buy one. You won't regret it.
