Advantages: Works most of the time Disadvantages: Most of the time isn't especially advantageous surely?
I actually purchased my Hotpoint CTD00 second hand in all honesty though it was less than a year old at purchase (and still is I believe). Now I know why the couple were so keen to sell it. They told me they'd paid £249.99 for it new and looking around I find it does indeed retail for that sort of price. I spotted this in the Friday Free Ads for £80 and managed to get it for £70 including free delivery (like I said, now I know why they were so keen).
... ...nearly new condenser dryer by Hotpoint of all people. But the problems unfortunately started right away. As soon as the sellers bought the dryer into the flat and plugged it in no less. On closing the door and switching the dryer on, nothing happened. One of the sellers fiddled around with a few bits, looked all around the machine a few times, tried it once or twice; still nothing happened. After a few minutes the seller realised that the door sensor ...

Wife finds suitable site (my computer room--great ) plug in and away. I am left to read instruction book!
Not alot to it really. Empty water draw after each use, and clean condenser every month (more of that later).
So it sits there rumbles away. stops every now and then, goes into reverse, stops makes a funny vibrating noise (which is when it condenses). It has ...

Advantages: Fast drying, top water storage, relatively quiet. Disadvantages: Creases clothes easily.
I purchased this tumble dryer over a month ago now and I was pleasantly surprised. It came with a year guarantee and 4 years parts.
It was much quieter than my previous dryer and dryed the clothes in a quarter of the time! The water compartment is stored at the top so you don't have to get down on the floor to remove it which is always a bonus. The 'high' heat setting is fantastic. On the very first day I purchased the dryer I needed to dry an outfit ... ...dryer, put in on the 'high' heat setting and went out to get some shopping for an hour. When I came back, it was perfectly dry (but a little creased) - nothing that tumble dryer sheets can't sort out though! Overall, this is great value for money and fantastic when you're a busy working mum like me. ...

Advantages: Condenser - no need for vented hose Disadvantages: Noisy, door catch seems a bit fragile
...over the Internet. The Hotpoint fitted the bill and was within my price range (£200), plus I had owned a Hotpoint Washing Machine in the past which was reliable. The machine was simplicity itself to set up - once i had removed the packaging (it only weighs 35 kilos so was quite easy to manouvre into position, i am a 9 stone woman) i just needed to plug it in! I had imagined dad/boyfriend assistance would be needed but no! Instructions are easy to ... ...loads and fabric types. However it is easy enough to stop the machine mid cycle and check if some of the lighter items are almost dry. The machine has a filter which collects fluff and a bottle for condensed water and it is important to empty these regularly. The drum is very large - 7kg capacity - which i do not fill, but find it easy to load up, and this would make a huge difference to a family. The door is large too - the whole front of the machine, ...

Advantages: Great little Mover Disadvantages: None
...During the summer when it is warm I always do my drying on the line in my garden but during the winter and wet weather I can't so for these times I have bought a condenser tumble dryer. Whilst looking to purchase one I wanted to make sure I got a reliable brand which didn't need venting to the outside and one that would compliment my kitchen. I looked around all the usual store's and eventually settled on the HotpointCTD0P from John Lewis. I ordered it which took 3 days to arrive and paid a very reasonable £279.00 this has now gone down by £10.00 to just £269.00.
The machine when I set it up was simple just plug in and go as it has a built in condenser that gathers up all the moisture and is emptied by removing the tray from the bottom and emptied down the sink. The instructions are very straight forward and although...

Advantages: Great Features, Great Performance Disadvantages: Energy Rating C
...Being a large family we tend to have the washing machine and tumble dryer on all the time especially with the babies bit's and pieces needing washing on a daily basis. About a year ago now our old Hotpoint tumble dryer broke down on us so we decided to go out and get another. After shopping around both on the high street and online we settled on another Hotpoint but this time the CTD40 model in Silver/Graphite to match the existing appliances in our kitchen.
We ordered it from Argos for the very reasonable price of £299.00 now reduced to £277.00 and within 3 days it was all delivered and up and running. The new Hotpoint was an absolute luxury compared to the older model we had before and with so many different setting's and energy saving technology it really is amazing how a tumble dryer can be made so advanced and so quiet...
