...year ago now our old Hotpoint tumble dryer broke down on us so we decided to go out and get another. After shopping around both on the high street and online we settled on another Hotpoint but this time the CTD40 model in Silver/Graphite to match the existing appliances in our kitchen. We ordered it from Argos for the very reasonable price of £299.00 now reduced to £277.00 and within 3 days it was all delivered and up and running. The new Hotpoint ... ...decision was that it was Hotpoint a brand we always seem to use and never have any problems with and it was also another condenser dryer. A condenser for those who are not sure means that you can dry all your clothes indoors without the need for ventilation outside as all water is gathered in a unit that can be emptied and all dust and fluff is collected in filters which just slide out and can be emptied very easily, best I find to do this after ...

Advantages: Large capacity, can be put anywhere, stylish design Disadvantages: Can make the room warm
My husband and I bought this condenser when we were moving into our new house - previously we had a tumble dryer with a hose but in our new house there was no actual space for the tumble dryer so we had to take a cupboard out for it and it wasn't very practical to have a hose running across the middle of the kitchen to the window!!
So we decided to get a condenser (my mum has one and highly recommended them), it basically takes away the need for ... ...in to the tumble dryer. This means you can put it anywhere in the house! It does still make the room quite warm but I just shut the kitchen door and it's not a problem.
This particular model looks really stylish in graphite (we actually went and bought all of our appliances in this colour because we liked it so much!). It also hold 7kg of washing which is great especially in the winter months or if you have children! Unlike tumble dryers with hoses, ...

...dryer itself was delivered by Hotpoint on their own lorry, the driver turned up just after 7:00AM, which was great for me as it meant I didn't need to wait around all day. Completely unrelated to the performance of the dryer but something I wanted to add!
The dryer itself has more different settings than you can shake a stick at, such as a wool setting, synthetic setting, cool tumble, timed drying etc. But by far the best feature is the only one ... ...After putting your washing in the dryer, you simply set to automatic mode, denoted by a white snowflake/star symbol, then press start. That's it! The machine then proceeds to dry your washing and a small sensor inside the machine detects how dry your clothes are, once it decides they are dry enough it stops. This is great for me as it means I don't have to keep going back to check how dry clothes are, and it also cuts down on the old electricity ...

I may be alone in this experience but it would surprise me. I purchased this tumble dryer because I thought the price was reasonable it sat unused for 1 month as I had another machine I was borrowing. When my friend took hers back within 1 month of using this new one it broke. Because it was more than 1 month from the purchase date they wouldn't replace it they replaced the faulty heater. 2 months later it was making awful grinding noises they came ...

Advantages: iron system works well Disadvantages: sensor problems
I suffered from several problems with this product and within the first 3 months of the purchase it broke down 3 times
There are a couple of problems and tips I can provide To start with there is a fan that cools the heater down at the end of a cycle, if you stop the machine to check if the clothes are dry without waiting for the cycle to end the heat sensor gets too hot and either breaks or shuts down the machine.
providing you wait for the cycle ... ...problem is that the sensor also works by assessing the air in the machine to tell if the clothes are dry. This means that you should put more clothes in the dryer rather than less, if you only put a few items in the dryer the sensor senses all the free space/air and thinks the clothes are dry stopping the cycle early in which case you have to put it back on.
finally the water light is constantly on and or flashing which means you have to keep emptying ...
