Dishwashers are an essential piece of kitchen equipment if you have a large family, active lives, and every minute counts. If you rely on your dishwasher to miss the washing-up, don't get this one. We have had 3 failures in 6 months. The prime reason is that the filter which stops food going out of the pipes isn't small enough.
Now, unless you are like my mother whom washes her dishes BEFORE putting them in the dishwasher, it is likely that you will have problems. The first time that Hotpoint came to visit us they replaced the filter without us having told them of the problem - this seems to me that it might be a regular failure and stinks of a bad design.
When it works it seems to do an adequate job although it doesn't like cleaning rice off your plates!
Steer Clear.
