Hotpoint DWF50/DWM55

I bought this dish washer in September 2003. It is a very quiet and economical machine.It has a high capacity and cleans everything very well.It has a good range of programs.The cuttlery basket is a bit naff and the handle on it fell off in a few weeks of ownership however this is no real problem. Its easy to refill salt and rinse aid although the warning lights stay on even when refilled. The exterior of the machine is easy to keep clean and does not have any crevices where dirt can gather. We bought this dishwasher in June 2004 and although it is very quiet and purports to have a high capacity, it does not cope with the job of cleaning. Its not easy to refil with salt, you have to remove the bottom tray first and even then the headroom to carry out the task is not fantastic. We find that the salt content in the water is so high that sometimes the cutlery goes rusty. Although we can get a good number of items etc into the machine, and the capacity is truly huge, dinner plates are too big and snag on the rotary arms, preventing a clean wash.
