Hotpoint EW74

I have owned one of these cookers for a month now and as a whole I am extremely pleased with it - range of functions, style, design, quality, easy to clean, oh and before i forget ... cooks food superbly too!!! To go into detail, it has a large capacity main fan oven with 'stay clean' liners on the sides, which basically utitlises the heat from the oven to destroy splashes of grease etc. Although this doesn't elimintate cleaning altogether, it certainly makes the job a whole lot easier. A smaller conventional oven is combined with the grill and obviously only one or the other can be used at a time. The grill has a dual control which allows you to only use one half of it if you are only cooking small amounts of food and the cooker comes complete with a grill pan with detachable handle. I have found that the grill does not need to be turned up high in order to cook the food properly and apart from the safety side of this, must also help to reduce electricity bills! The ceramic hob has 4 rings of various sizes, one of which has a dual circuit to allow for different sized saucepans (the rings work at their optimum if they are fully covered by the pan). The control panel has large knobs which are clearly labelled and need a definite 'click' to turn them into the on position ..... this is a bonus in the safety stakes as far as i am concerned as with my previous cooker the knobs just turned and could accidently be switched on when cleaning thus giving the potential of having the cooker on and unattended!! The hob also has 4 small lights indicating which rings are in use and therefore HOT and these lights stay on after the rings have been turned off, and until they have cooled down. There is an electronic clock on the control panel and this is also a timer for automatic oven cooking and slow cooking and can revert to manual operation by the press of a button. Both ovens have glass doors, which are easily removed for cleaning, the top one literally slides out, and the main oven has an internal light so food can be checked without opening the door - if you do need to open the door, then the fan automatically cuts out so you are not hit with a blast of hot air. This cooker has a stylish sleek design and with a choice of colours (Black, white, graphite, stainless steel) would look good in any kitchen. I have found that a quick wipe over the surfaces after use with a damp cloth brings the cooker back to it's 'new' look and any other thorough cleaning is a simple task, helped by the stay clean liners and simplicity of design AND it glides easily across the floor when you need to clean behind it. All relevant instruction booklets are included and are plain and easy to follow, with tips on cooking and how to get the best use out of the product as well as care and cleaning, and Hotpoint give a free 5 year parts guarantee upon registration. I would recommend this cooker to anybody and having used other manufacturer's cookers feel that Hotpoint/Creda are really a brand to be reckoned with!!
