We bought this fridge freezer seven years ago and have had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever, apart from having to replace the fridge lightbulb once (which was just a case of the opening the holder and then removing and replacing the bulb). We chose the silver one as it appears to be more modern. This model has an A rating.
The controls are along the top, above the fridge door and are very easy to operate. The controls are: fridge temperature, freezer temperature, both of which can be altered with a coin or flat knife. The amber fast freeze light, amber holiday light, the red high temperature warning light, if there's been a powercut or the door has been left open and the red food defrost light for powercuts. There is also a fast freeze button which is only applicable to the bottom drawer of the freezer and also a holiday function button.
The fridge is 'zoned' with A being the top shelf for dairy products, sauces and jams, the next shelf is cooler and for general food, the bottom shelf is the coldest - ie meat, fish, wrapped pre cooked food. Two salad drawers are at the bottom.
The door is 'zoned' in the same way, the bottom shelf being particularly useful for milk containers, drinks bottles and wine bottles.
The metal wire rack under one of the shelves is also useful for bottles and cans.
The freezer is ideal, although quite small, slightly smaller than the size of the fridge, so we recommend that you have a separate freezer as you will probably not be able to keep all your frozen food in this freezer alone.
I have never fast frozen food with this freezer, but it goes in the bottom should you need to.
There is also a holiday function which we have not used, but it does not keep the fridge so cold and so conserves energy without affecting the freezer (the fridge of course must be emptied first of perishable foods).
The unit is quite easy to clean and can be wiped out with a damp cloth.
Both the fridge and the freezer are automatically defrosted and so this saves a lot of your time.
The doors can be hung either side which is useful as then you are not constricted for a location to put the unit.
The fridge capactiy is 181 litres and the freezer is 84 litres. We chose this for the size of the fridge in particular since we already had a freezer.
Also, the instruction manual is very clear and provides step by step instructions to operate.
The two salad drawers have cracked at the back, maybe because they have been overfilled and then lifted out carelessly. The built in shaped handle is difficult to clean and mould gathers. This can be removed with a bit of kitchen roll wrapped around the flat blade of a knife.
We would recommend this model to anyone who is looking for a large fridge and not a particularly large freezer.
We bought this from a local, independent retailer, so it is should still be available in most large stores/online. When we bought it we paid £340 so now it is most likely to be cheaper, and as it has lasted for seven years with no faults, we think that this is very good value for money.
