Up until a few months ago we had too separate units, we had a stand alone fridge and stand alone freezer but we decided that we should really consider getting one unit as having two taken up to much room and not to forget about the additional electricity.
We had the previous models since 2004 and where delighted with the performance and we knew we needed a fridge/freezer which was big enough to take a month shopping for a family of 4
So what where we looking for:
Large family size White in colour Energy efficient Glass shelves
We had a budget of £400 to pay for this new appliance and we wanted that to include the delivery of the item as we knew we would have difficulty getting it in the house due to the weight and height of it.
The Search
So we headed down to our local Curry's store which has a fantastic display of fridges and freezers which all the relevant information for any customer to make a well informed choice.

Getting it home
Yippee! its delivered, unwrapped and now ready for me to plug in that's after I read the 7 page instruction guide, the guide is very easy and starlight forward with good little tip on how to set the appliance up for the first time, how to clean any spills that occur and how to contact the manufacturer if you have any additional problems.
So what can you expect within?
Instruction booklet - Very easy to follow Guarantee card - I would recommend completing this 3 glass shelves for the fridge - I gave these a clean with warm soapy water as the instructions suggest. 3 plastic door shelves which are well protected with a blue tape - easily removed 2 vegetable drawers - these where rather smelly and desperately required cleaned
**Opinion- I love the fact that these shelves can be fixed where I want them too, there easily attached and very easily removed to allow you to clean or just move them to a different height. I often find myself adjusting the height depending on what I have to store. Can I also add here that the door is reversible to you are able to have it either opening from the right or left.
Ok once you have spend about 15 to 20 minutes taking all the packaging out from the inside and you have washed the appliance down your ready for the big switch on. Well that's after you have left the appliance sit in a stationery position for at least 40minsutes to allow the gases to settle. Once you have done that all you need to do is plug the appliance in, switch the power on and ensure that the appliance control switch is at the highest point which is number 5.
**Opinion - Very easy to set up and if you follow the instruction booklet which is provided you should not have any problems what so ever. After 3hrs on the maximum temperature I reduced the temperature setting to number 3 which according to the instructions that is suitable for my needs. I was able to place my products in the appliance 3hrs after installing it.
Lights and Control!
One light and one control is all the stylish fridge freezer has, situated just inside the fridge door on the top is the control which has 5 settings. The light within the fridge activates automatically each time you open the door.
The control is very easy to turn to the required number, in my opinion I feel the number are very easy to understand and read from a distance.
0: Not cooling at all, this is the position you will see the dial set at when you first get it.
1: Low energy use. Ideal when on holiday - very low energy consumption, up to half the consumption you normally use.
2: Low energy use: Ideal for people who only have a few items in there fridge- this is one for elderly people too.
3: Medium energy use: Ideal for a family fridge - Setting I use all the time
4: Medium energy use: Ideal for family use, especially if the door is opened a lot- Might need to use the setting as the kids get older.
5: High energy use: Ideal to use if the fridge has been turned off or brand new
Inside the fridge
When you first open the fridge you are greeted with a very spacious looking fridge which has of storage options available. Ok so you have the two clear see through vegetable drawers which are very spacious and can easily hold up to 10 cans of fizzy juice. The temperature at the part of the fridge is well maintained and I have always been happy with the coldness of the product. The fridge also has two glass shelves that are very easily moved and cleaned as they just pull out, you need to ensure the door is open to its wideness to allow you to remove them. They have a plastic edge which stops them being easily broken. There string and very durable. I have sat many jars and even more bottles of wine on them over the new year period without any problems at all. On the door you have the usual shelves that can also be moved around to suit the individual, I can fit 2 x 6ltrs of milk on the door bottom shelf without any problems and the door will also close too. The top shelf I tend to place my eggs and cheese for the kids on that.
Overall - Lots of space available and very easily cleaned if need be.
Fridge Capacity - 175ltrs which is 6.3cuft in size
Inside the freezer
The freezer which is frost free has a three very spacious clear see though drawers. The top shelf of the freezer is a fixed drawer where by the door swing down open allow you to squeeze in as much as possible. The other two drawers are full complete units which are able to be removed fully from the freezer and once again easily cleaned. Being frost free means you will never have to defrost the freezer during the life span of the appliance, well that's the books ays but in reality you will have build up of frost for a few reasons and the main one is if you leave the door open. Since having this appliance I have never experienced a build up of frost so far.

Final Thoughts
Only having this fro a few months so far I am very delighted with the performance, the thought of getting my shopping delivered and not having to worry about fitting it all in. I am very happy with the performance whether the fridge/freezer is full to bursting or very empty. The idea that you can adjust the temperature setting to suit your requirements very easily also appeals to me. In addition to all the above the appliance has back up which means it can go with power for up to 12hsr which is brilliant if you where to have a power failure.
Would I recommend this - Yes I would without any problems
Advantages: price (direct from manufacturers), design Disadvantages: other parts of the design!
...buying it - my previous Hotpoint had failed after a mere 4 years, the warranty I bought was declared invalid and my best bet was to buy a new product at a discount. Not the best way to choose an appliance.
At first it suffered from comparison with the previous (non-functioning) model - I am still missing the wine rack in particular. I hate the way that though we chose the most similar model still available, the internal dimensions have all been ... ...fit into the new one.
That said, I'm getting used to this model. There seems to be a lot of wasted space inside. Perhaps the shelves designed by someone with very different shopping habits, though I can't think what they'd want the very tall top shelf for. The door space is rather tight for a standard 2 litre milk carton - surely a very ordinary thing to want to put in a family fridge. But there are some improvements: you can see what's in the top ...
