Hotpoint FF 187 E

Advantages: Big freezer compartment...and fridge section
Disadvantages: A bit bulky

...When we moved into our house we pretty much had nothing in the way of appliances to kit our new home except for the telly and hi-fi. As much as the idea of living off take away every day appealed to me, our budget wouldn't quite be able to stretch to that so we had you do some heavy duty shopping. One of our major purchases for the kitchen was this Hotpoint FF187E fridge freezer. Well technically we bought the FF187EG - which is the exact same model only in graphite, rather than white (it is also available in satin aluminium, which is probably the colour you'd get if you were to mix white and graphite together). When looking to buy our fridge freezer (FF) we noticed that a lot of the ones on the market seem to have larger fridge sections and smaller freezer ones. ...When I moved home I decided it was time to replace my Fridge/Freezer as it was past its best and 11 years old. Having had a Hotpoint before and knowing how reliable thay are I decided to get the Hotpoint FF187E in Graphite. Reviews for this appliance were also helpful in my decision. This is an A rated appliance. fridge;- 4 glass shelves with Microban Antibacterial coating to protect against harmful bacteria. 1 silver wine rack which holds 4 bottles. 2 salad crisper boxes, I use mine for fruit too. 3 door pockets;- 1 of which is suitable for 2ltr bottled drinks and a fridge water jug and milk cartons too., I holds jars of jam, pickles and sauces. And the top pocket has a flap up cover in clear plastic which is ideal for butter, marg, cheese and eggs. Freezer;- 4 drawers;- top is shallow but will hold 2ltr cartons of ice... Read review

...I purchased the FF 200 E August 2007, 10 weeks later the fridge was failing to cool whilst the freezer was over freezing, engineer came out and cleared an ice blockage in the fridge cooling duct with an hair dryer and suggested we should isolate the power every few weeks to prevent the icing up. Twelve weeks on and the fridge is again failing to cool, have requested replacement with alternate product from Hotpoint who tell me they can only replace if the engineer can not repair, removing the ice that should never be there in the first place is not a repair, will wait and see how the engineer proposes to resolve the problem with a permanent cure but expect to find their only solution is the hair dryer treatment....
