I bought the Hotpoint 187EG fridge freezer when we moved house in September 08, and initially was thrilled with both the looks, capacity, and the extra features like the suspended wine rack, the audible door alarm, and the mess free ice cube storage. It appeared to do everything I had wanted and more besides. However when it was nine months old, we had to call out the engineer because we had a rise in temperature, and neither the fridge nor freezer were keeping cold. This resulted in the compressor (the main motor) being replaced. We went merrily on our way again, but one day before the warranty expired, the same thing happened again. Again we called out the engineer, who this time condemned the fridge freezer, and advised us to visit the supplying store of Comet to organise a replacement. This is how I came to be reading these reviews, as I wondered if other people had had the same experiences. I needed to know before ordering a replacement, whether to get the same model or something completely different. However on doing this research, I think that I have just been unlucky and I intend to go for the same model again. Their are some really positive reviews on the net. This model just seems to tick all the boxes required, and although I have considered other fridge freezers, I still think that this one is the best for looks, capacity and value for money .
