...I have had 2 Hotpoint washing machines and have found both of them adequate washers but break down frequently. Hotpoint seems to be making a lot of money from service and spare parts. Then when the machines break down beyond repair they tempt you into buying a new Hotpoint rather than a more reliable make by offering a replacement at a very low cost. Then the whole cycle starts again – more spare parts and call out fees. I have a Bosch now and I find it a better washer and it has yet to let me down....

Advantages: Looks good, well laid out, easy to use. Disadvantages: Has the life expectancy of a Mayfly. Dryer not very efficient.
...I bought this machine just over 2 years ago and it has been nothing but trouble. coupled with a very unhelpful and unsympathetic service from Hotpoint themselves. The unit broke 4 times in the first year, always the dryer at fault. the 5th time faulty was just 2 weeks after the warranty expired. Hotpoint didn't care it was the same fault and told me I had to pay £90 pounds to have their engineer fit a part under their 5-year warranty. some warranty! after much arguing they sent an engineer who wrote the machine off! they replaced it after much arguing. now faulty again, just outside warranty again. they have dug heels in and won't help unless i pay. Never buying Hotpoint products ever again. Please, Please avoid....

Advantages: Fairly easy to operate, good styling, Disadvantages: Dismally unreliable, Dreadfull customer service,
...I've joined this community solely to warn any future Hotpoint customers about this machine and Hotpoint.
An engineer for 25 years I am amazed that Hotpoint allowed this pile of garbage onto the market. More worrying however, is the lies that you as a customer will be told by Hotpoint, when trying to resolve reliability issues with it. They will say how rare it is for major drum bearings to collapse within 2 years, that it wont eat your clothes (you must be loading it incorrectly) but you will have to pay for the repairs. To strip the machine for repair is itself a major operation, many parts are simply too weak to stand up to normal use. I dont know whether this is the intenton of Hotpoint, it does seem that way. When major components fail in such a short time it will almost certainly be deemed beyond economical repair. To conclude...

This Hotpoint washing machine is my most recent washing machine. I bought it because I , like many others, usually do not use the tumble dryer at all. I dry my clothes either out in fresh air or on the radiators.... more
