Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Unreliable

...I have had 2 Hotpoint washing machines and have found both of them adequate washers but break down frequently. Hotpoint seems to be making a lot of money from service and spare parts. Then when the machines break down beyond repair they tempt you into buying a new Hotpoint rather than a more reliable make by offering a replacement at a very low cost. Then the whole cycle starts again – more spare parts and call out fees. I have a Bosch now and I find it a better washer and it has yet to let me down.... Read review

...I've joined this community solely to warn any future Hotpoint customers about this machine and Hotpoint. An engineer for 25 years I am amazed that Hotpoint allowed this pile of garbage onto the market. More worrying however, is the lies that you as a customer will be told by Hotpoint, when trying to resolve reliability issues with it. They will say how rare it is for major drum bearings to collapse within 2 years, that it wont eat your clothes (you must be loading it incorrectly) but you will have to pay for the repairs. To strip the machine for repair is itself a major operation, many parts are simply too weak to stand up to normal use. I dont know whether this is the intenton of Hotpoint, it does seem that way. When major components fail in such a short time it will almost certainly be deemed beyond economical repair. To conclude... Read review

Disadvantages: stopped working after 4 weeks

...Bought one of these machines new in August, it broke after 4 weeks and we've now been without a washing machine for the last 4 weeks. Hotpoint/Indesit sent out an engineer to fix it (their call out period is 10 days), but he couldn't, so he ordered a part. The part took 9 days to arrive so he came out again, only to discover it needed a different part! That was 10 days ago and the machine is still broken. Hotpoint/Indesit's customer service has been appalling throughout this episode - with a "couldn't care less" attitude from those on the phones and a "computer says no" approach to any request for help. Even when 365electrical.com eventually sorted out the problem and got us a new machine, Hotpoint failed to deliver it because they forgot to put it on the van! Appalling customer service - will never buy Hotpoint/Indesit again... Read review
