I've just spent over an hour trying to get them to decide who's problem it is, being bouced backwards and forwards between the two companies. My extended warranty is worthless, and I now have a piece of scrap metal in my kitchen with nobody taking responsibility for it.

I bought this item from comet on the 31st of December 2007, and also bought a 2 year extended warranty from comet for an additional £40.
For the first 4 months, it seemed to work ok, although we occassionally had trouble shutting the door (couldn't see why, but after a bit of messing about it seemed to shut) and had the occassional problem with the top shelf coming off it's tracks, but apart from that was quite happy with it.
Then 10 days ago, it stopped halfway though a wash with the "delicate 50C" light flashing. We checked the manual and it said to call customer services, which we did and they arranged for an engineer to come out.
10 days later we got a visit (I had to take a day off work) and the guy replaced a circuit board, which then became faulty. So he replaced it again and left, seemingly in a bit in a hurry. After he'd gone, I started a wash and behold, the same fault still there.

I've asked for Hotpoint to call me back after they have spoken to Comet and worked out who will sort out this problem. If I don't hear anything, I'm going to take it back to the Comet store and leave it there if I have to.
You would have thought it would be a straight-forward case of "fix or replace" after just over 4 months.
Latest Update:
Yesterday I got a call from Comet - they had tried sorting the problem out with Hotpoint, but didn't get anywhere, so they offered to replace the dishwasher themselves.

Advantages: Delay start feature and quick wash and dry cycle Disadvantages: Doesn't unload itself
Brilliant machine, I was stuck for space so only had room for a slimline dishwasher and I must admit I was a bit sceptical about dishwahers in general but I have now definitely changed my mind. The pots come out gleaming. I have found that the sparkling glasses do seem to make pop and beer go a bit flat so I have to rinse them before I use them (not sure why, think it may have something to do with the salt) Had a hard time finding what I wanted as ... ...standard ones and are not that much cheaper.
This machine looks good, has a nice neat panel of buttons and lcd display rather than the big dials that seem to feature on most. Is much quieter than I had expected and hold up to 9 place settings and just slots in as though it was made to measure. It has 6 programmes including a quick wash and dry and also has a delay start feature which is great as I can set it to come on during the night on the cheaper ...
