We didn’t actually have a choice when it came to which model of washing machine we had. You see we had gone for the budget rental scheme from Hughes and it was pot luck as to what machine we got, all we knew was that it would be a refurbished model that had previously been rented to somebody else. Well just a couple of months ago I moved into a new house with my girlfriend and so the first task was to equip the kitchen with some new appliances. When I moved into my new flat with my husband, it came complete with all appliances, including this Hotpoint Aquarius WD420. It's the bane of my life.. **Price and Availability** You can't buy this new, as far as I can see (not that I would ever in a month of Sundays recommend anyone does so). You can pick it up second hand for about £150 on the net (but please, don't). When we bought our first house there are so many new things to buy so spending this much on a washing machine is quite a risk. The price difference between just washer and the washer dryer was not much so decided to opt for the combined machine. There are so many different cycle options that I honestly haven't needed to use all of them. Oh my goodness! I have honestly never experienced such an unreliable machine! I bought my WD420 brand new, and had to call out an engineer within the first three weeks! Six weeks later, three more call outs, three new control panels, as it seems whatever goes wrong with the machine burns out the electrics, my machine was replaced. The handbook/instructions that you receive with the machine are incredibly vague, not even listing the most basic/common of fault codes.
