My last washing machine, also a Hotpoint, gave up the ghost finally last year after 8 years of great service.

I dreaded going off to the shops to try to find one because as soon as you start looking you get bombarded by sales assistants trying to sell you this one and that one, and overloading you with facts. But when buying my new machine I knew exactly want I wanted 1)a child lock (my toddler was getting quite good at turning my old machine off mid cycle) and 2) one which could take a bigger than normal load (there are 5 of us after all).

I saw the Ultima Hotpoint 6kg Silent and fell in love instantly. It had everything I needed and alot more!

Not only does it have the child lock, but also a timer delay button which means you can load your washing before going to bed, switch it to the programme required and then set the timer dealy to come on early in the morning so your washing is ready when you get up and not sitting soggy in the machine all night. It also has a rinse hold programme which is great when used with the timer as it holds the washing in the final rinse for the last 20 minutes or so and when you depress the button does the final 20 minutes and your washing comes out less creased. Which means ladies LESS IRONING!!

It does half loads and you can set it to how dirty your washing is so it washes for less or more time than normal stained clothes.

Extra rinse, crease reduction and time saver programmes are all great too................oh and yes it is v v v v v quiet!!

All in all this is one of the best machines around, and I would highly recommend it to anyone, my mother in law has just bought one too, so it must be good!
