Advantages Advantages Short Wash Cycles, 1200 Spin Speed, Can fit a double duvet in

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be noisy, bearings are prone to failure

Please forgive me for the terrible title although I think it fits rather well. The Hotpoint First Edition range provides excellent quality appliances at minimal cost, the washers come with spin speeds ranging from 800 up to 1200, depending on spin speed choice will vary the price of the appliance, obviously if you purchase the hifger spin sped model the price will be higher and vice versa. Overall Appearence = The Machine has a nice, clean look to it, it has been well designed to fit into a traditional or modern environment. The control panel has the detergent dispenser with Prewash, Mainwash ... more

We have a Hotpoint WM53 which was a wedding present 7 years ago.It was a new model at that time and cost about £350. The wash programmes are very good and spins your washing reasonably dry but the quick wash programme doesn't and leaves them wetter than a normal wash. **FEATURES** It has a 95, 60, 50 and 40 degree wash and a half load and economy option to save on time, energy and water and a prewash setting. Also the door has a safety lock so it cannot be opened for a minute after the machine is turned off. With three children the washing machine goes on a least once a day somethimes twice as ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple to use / reliable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Recent worrying problems

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a Hotpoint First Edition 800, WM51. It came with my flat when I bought it in October. I realised that the reason that it was left there was that it has been wedged into its space so snugly that the counter top would need to be sawed off to get it out. I have noticed that some of my clothes have little black smudges on them after being washed and wondered if this is because the filter needs cleaning (usually found at the base on the front of washing machines). However I can't see the filter on the Hotpoint, certainly not at the front. Can someone tell me ... more

Hi all you washing machine geeks out there, I recently bought this machine from a reconditioned appliance shop, for what I describe is a bargain almost brand new condition, and only £10. I have had this machine 2 days now and I have already used it 6 times, I have 6 kids and I needed a machine after my old whirlpool philips gave up after 15years hard labor aww bless, anyway back to the hotpoint !, the spin speed is great faster than the old 1100 my whirlpool one did, the boil wash turns my kitchen into a lovely steamy sauna, the quick wash is ok and the rinsing is great. I also love how long ... more

    Advantages Advantages good price,looks good!

Disadvantages Disadvantages bearings can be a problem!

The WM series of the hotpoint washer has always been a half decent machine, and if used within its means, can last a good few years with only minor work needed, most common problem is for the brushes to wear out,but are easily replaced, and easy to fit, behind that, the bearings can go. This perticular machine has good fuctions, good spin speed, and isn't to noisey on spin either!un-balenced loads can be a problem. The WM series drum has been used for many years, and has had most of the little niggles sorted out, Wash performance is pretty good, long as you dont over load it,it does use quite a lot of ... more
