Had this machine for 4 years, I finally threw it out in the back garden a few days before Christmas and bought a new machine. Its started off ok, dont think I had any issues in the first year but after that it was one thing after another.
The most common issue was the drum paddles that would break off, that got so bad in the end that the engineer who comes to sort it out ordered me extra ones as they were bound to go again, and they did, frequently, and when they do, if the machine is in a cycle, the laundry gets pulled into the hole and gets shredded. Not funny when you have a family who love desginer labels.
The electric control panel was replaced three times, the barings and drum replaced, the door seal replaced, the door lock broke twice, once it was the bit in the machine and once the bit on the door, twice it leaked all over the place, on three occasions it wouldnt let the water out, once it started banging becuase the screws that hold the drum in place had come lose, and as the years passed, despite all the repairs, it got louder and Louder and LOUDER.
The final straw came when I heard huge 'crack' while it was in a spin cycle and the entire drum literally dropped inside the machine and it was spinning out of control making the worst noise you can imagine with sparks flying inside and smoke coming from underneath as the lose drum hit metal. Next thing I knew it had tripped the fuse on the kitchen ring. I was glad it did as I really didnt want to go near it to switch it off.

I have the dryer that matches this machine and thats recently had a new drum too, and a new door and new seals and the dust filter splits into two within weeks. A few years ago I had a Hotpoint slimline dishwasher, again one issue after another.
I have a service plan from British Gas so none of these repairs put me out of pocket but the amount of days I had to wait in for repair people and the days I watched laundry build up due to having a large family were beyond reasonable. Laminate floor doesnt take too kindly to being leaked all over either.
So please, even if you see this thing going for £50 in the sale, do yourself a favour and dont bother, I would also think twice before bothering with Hotpoint at all. Im disgusted with the brand altogether.
Advantages: Fantasic range of programme choices Disadvantages: None
This Hotpoint washing machine comes with everything you'd expect from such a trusted brand: we wouldn't buy anything else. It is a 1400 spin washer, but you can lower the spin speed manually. If you choose to leave the dial alone, and don't have any small children to change it for you(!), then the washer automatically selects the most appropriate speed for the wash programme you select. The same is true of the temperature settings: either choose ... ...do very dirty washes, and Hotpoint certainly hasn't disappointed me. The washes are always clean and fresh (that'll be the 2-way drum rotation) and the spin cycle usually leaves the clothes almost dry.
The Hotpoint WMA48 has an A rating for energy and wash, so the green-minded among you can sleep easy. This is the best you can get! ...

Advantages: Washes well.Is very quiet.Energy efficient, and holds lots of washing in the drum. Disadvantages: I have not experienced any problems with the machine.Sometimes seems to take forever on a long wash.
I have had my machine for over two years and have nothing negative to report about it.
I have two young children so as you can imagine i use the machine every day at least once.
The machine has a variety of different settings, including time saver, extra rinse, reduced creases, mini load and a hand wash feature.
You can also set the temperature from 0 degrees up to 95 degrees to ensure you have no colour runs or shrinkage.
The spin cycle is extreamly ... ...and can be set to a variety of speeds from 40rpm to 1400rpm.
There is also a seperate rinse and spin option at 2 different speeds or a no spin option.
You also get all the traditional wash options, and the handbook that came with the machine was easy to understand.
I can honestly say that out of the several washing machines i have used or owned, this machine is easy to understand and work and washes very well (you can even fit a single duvet in ...

Advantages: Very easy to use. Disadvantages: None.
I bought my WMA48 two weeks ago after my old washing machine collapsed and paid £269.99 in a sale. I have 4 children and do a wash every day. This machine is very easy to use. It will hold 5.5kg. It has a smart appearance and would look good in any kitchen. It has a big door which opens 180 degrees, so it's easy to load the washing and it has an automatic lock once the wash programme has started. There are 11 different programmes and they are listed ... ...of clothes eg. 'PROGRAMME C (60) colourfast cotton'. So all you have to do is turn the dial to the chosen programme and press start. Even my husband can understand it. It has a handwash programme for my teenage son who never looks at labels when buying his clothes. My daughter has very sensitive skin so the 'extra rinse' facility is very useful. It also has a 'mini load' facility which saves time, electricity, washing powder and conditioner for a ...
