The company produces house and number plates in brass slate and ceramic and also has modern designs as well as letter boxes. The single numbers as we bought can be bought in a range of designs including the type we bought, 2" aluminium numbers, 2" and 6" brass numbers, and 6" chrome numbers.

Black number
After himself had finished making the fence and gates for the back of the house, he decided we had best get a number put onto the fence, so took himself off to get one.

Not being especially concerned about a number I was rarely going to take any notice of because I know where i live, i was however quite impressed by his choice.
THE NUMBER...
The number itself is a 4" black number with just the right amount of "twirl" at the bottom of the number 5. This makes it pleasant to look at and not overly formal but at the same time not so fancy that it is almmost unrecognisable as a number. It is made of metal and has been cast and powder coated to make it black. Contained in the packet are two screws for attaching the number to a surface, and these are also black, so when it is fixed in place, they just merge in as part of the number.
The back of the packet tells me how to clean the number usinf a damp cloth and warns that metal polish or abrasive cloths should not be used. Given that we have a fair amount of rain up here, i don't think i will be running out too often with my damp cloth.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
Our number was purchased in b and q, but i assume that the products can be bought in many different diy stores, and for more personalised products, the online service can be used.
It cost £4.99 which isn't going to break the bank!

VERDICT
The number looks good- not too big so that it makes an overly ostentatious statement and not so small that it looks pathetic on the gate. It has been up there a while now, and so far shows no signs of wear and tear. If it was to look grubby then of course I could clean it, and if it got all weathered the fact that it wasn't over priced means that i would happily buy another.
It was apparently very easy to fix to the gate- just two screws and it was up there.
For anyone wanting a reaonsably priced house number this is good. The website is also worth a look if you want to order a personalised house sign...there are some interesting signs, and all reasonably priced.
