Shock Value, Great value
Review of Shock Value (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Timbaland by
jcneil
Advantages: Diversity, Great tracks
Disadvantages: M.I.A
...of his first album entitled Shock Value.
...Album Review...
1. Oh Timbaland
This contains a piano intro which is taken from a Nina Simone track. This track then features a thumpind drum beat and some funky guitar licks. This is a great intro to the album and gives a taster of what is to come from the rest of the album. 2. Give it to me
This starts with "is it going, is it going, i don't know" This has a thumping beat that knocks through the track, ... ...that the best tracks on Shock Value have.
7. Kill Yourself
This track is to all the dissers. A bold track which has an amazing melody with piano and a seismic bassline that is so infectious. A really well worked track that is one of the best on the album. This track has A great flow.
8. Boardmeeting
This has a thumping beat and some sweet aha aha female vocals. This track features Hip Hop artist Magoo. It is a nice track but doesnt have that ...

So-So Album
Review of Eminem Show, The (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Eminem by
sportskd2
Advantages: mostly good songs
Disadvantages: some terrible ones that aren't his style
Eminem came out with some great tracks on this album; however there are like three or four terrible tracks. On those tracks, Eminem tries to rap in a harder style , but once you hear those tracks, you will notice that isn't his style. On the other hand, the other tracks are pretty catchy and topped most of the hip hop charts. All things considered, if you are an Eminem fan, it is still a good album and would defiently consider buying it. If you weren't ...

Smells like funk...??!
Review of Elephunk [PA] - Black Eyed Peas by
armychick
Advantages: Funky!!
Disadvantages: Some boring songs on the album!
The Blackeyed Peas- Elephunk
Interscope records, licensed to Polydor Ltd (UK)
The "peas" are also known as Will.i.am, Fergie,Taboo and Apl.de.ap. The peas have been around in the hip hop music scene for years know, and true die hard hip hop/RnB fans may say that their commercialisation has spoilt the genre. However, as one of these fans, I am nothing but impressed with the album.
I tend to buy albums that reflect in a certain memory in my life. ... ...throughout the whole of my girlie ski trip to South Germany and became our sound track! From then on, we all had to get it!
As a musician myself I can appreciate the fine form of all things musical, but particularly the catchy tunes with a range of rythmical influences such as salsa and latino which i love. In a nutshell then, its just down right funky!
In my opinion, the album is very good, strong and powerful. No two songs are the same in style, ...

The Documentary
Review of Documentary, The (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Game by
bamindaclub
Advantages: Good beats
Disadvantages: Bad Language
The Documentary is the best West Coast street-rap album since DJ Quik's 2002 LP Under tha Influence. All of the G-Unit solo albums thus far have been aesthetically unified, a rarity in hip-hop; the tracks on The Documentary actually sound like they belong on the same album. Dre produces five of the album's 17 songs, applying his recent stripped-down cinematic style, and many of the record's other producers follow his lead. Superstar beatmakers like ... ...fitting their usual approaches into the album's fabric. The end result is a rich, triumphant sonic tapestry; you can hear every dollar that went into it.
The Game is not a particularly singular rapper. His hoarse, guttural voice doesn't possess any of the relaxed menace of classic West Coast rappers; he sounds more like Tha Dogg Pound member Daz Dillinger than Eazy or Snoop or The D.O.C. He has an appealing confidence and an unforced lyrical toughness, ...

EM's Encore
Review of Encore (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Eminem by
paulhanton
Advantages: Some truly great tracks.
Disadvantages: Some self indulgent nonsense.
Encore - Eminem
Now I am not a great fan of Eminem however I bought this cd when I first heard 'Mosh', track 8, I'll expand on this later. I then heard all this stuff about Eminem retiring, this was his last album etc., etc. I am a fan of Dr Dre however, and as he produced the album that helped to persuade me.
So it was with a critical ear that I first listened to it. The fact I still have it four years after it's release is testament to the fact ... ...1. (Curtains Up - Encore version)
No needed, just a soundclip of the audience waiting for him. 0/10 not a good start however....
2. Evil Deeds
Brilliant opener. An insight into his mind without a doubt. A really good thumping bass with a 'clicky' percussion whilst he raps over this with some backing going into nursery rhyme. A very complex musical piece with Em rapping about his childhood and a fair level of insight into his current 'issues'. ...
