Advantages: This was a very good hotel in it's day Disadvantages: Burnt down in 1999
Review of The GardenHouse Hotel, Folkestone, Kent, England
You will note that my title for this review states that the GardenHouse Hotel WAS a good hotel.
So why is the word WAS in capitals?
Well, Ciao is a little out dated as this hotel actually burnt down in 1999!
The Hotel
I was born and brought up in Folkestone, Kent and remember this hotel as one of the grand old Victorian buildings that used to dominate my home town before the property developers moved in and turned us into a concrete jungle. Folkestone is a seaside town on the South East coast of England. It is around 70 miles from London and around 16 miles from the city of Canterbury. The cross Channel port of Dover is approximately 7 miles along the coast. Folkestone was a very popular holiday destination from the time of Queen Victoria.
The GardenHouse ...
Advantages: covers dull garden woodwork Disadvantages: mmm mmm not sure i really like it
.
We are revamping the school garden and the summer house is looking very dowdy so it was decided to colour it. Now I personally am not a great lover of this trend of coloured fences coloured sheds in the garden preferring natural wood, however I duly painted the summer house a Cuprinol shades.
We choose cuprinol garden shades to colour the summerhouse. Cuprinol shades is formulated for use on exterior wood rough sawn or smooth planed, can be used on sheds trellises garden benches, planters. This treatment is NOT suitable for decking
It can be applied to wood that has been previously pressure treated, or previously treated with creosote
Cuprinol shades are available in 125ml, 1 litre, 2.5 litre, and 5 litre cans.
There are a variety of colour shades to choose from barley wood, a blue. Black ash, forget me not, holly, iris ...
Advantages: Very warm welcome, great historic house, superb gardens Disadvantages: Limited admission times to the house
If you visit The Lake District / Cumbria, I strongly recommend that you go and visit one of my favorite attractions in the area which is Mirehouse Historic House & Gardens.
Mirehouse is located on the A591 about 3.5 miles north of Keswick.
You'll find some breathtaking scenery there. When you leave your car at the car park, you can either start having a walk in the forest nearby or just cross the street and enter into the large gardens surrounding the house.
Our children certainly enjoyed the adventure playgrounds and the nature notes that you can find there, but you will also see a walled honey garden (The Bee Garden, created in 1780), a collection of different shrubs, meadows of wildflowers etc.
Take a walk at the lakeside (yes, there is quite a pretty lake close to the house - Bassenthwaite Lake) and enjoy the impression ...
