Advantages made of wood, laced cord to protect wiring.

Disadvantages very bassy

Info

My girlfriend bought these as replacements when her two year old broke my pair of "Skullcandy Rasta" over head headphones, I did not think the quality would be sufficient for what i used them for (I was producing music at the time and needed a semi decent headphone to listen to mixdowns in) but was pleasently suprised when it came to listening.

The Specs

freq. Response 20Hz-20kHz
Sensitivity 98db@1kHz
Nominal Impedance: 16Ω @1kHz
Drive component 8mm moving coil

House of Marley Midnight Ravers
These headphones are rather bass heavy, which i saw as a problem because when i was producing i needed to hear my mixdowns with no elements added and these seem to add bass without any adjustments on the equaliser, This is handy if you like your music bassy like me. As a listening headphone i can't fault them, The feel of them is good and they are made of wood, which sounds weird but the feel is nice. Now your probably thinking "WOOD?!?, What about the rain?" Well i wore these out in the rain plenty and the only damage that has ever been done to them is the Marley logo has faded away off of them. The wire is very durable as it is wrapped in a lacey cord, Protecting it from snapping or being damaged, which is always annoying in headphones especially when one headphone goes before the other, Thats a pet hate of mine. The only major disadvantage of these phones is simply a hygiene issue, They are in ear headphones, and they make your ears sweat which can lead to a wax buildup, after using i have to clean my ears nearly 3 times as much to keep them clean, BUT if you don't mind doing that then this is not a issue.

The sound you get is layered, Which means that you can hear each individual instrument clearly, and every part of the drum kit clearly on a well produced album, the bass obviousely being more prominent through out the mix unless you adjust according on your phone/mp3's equaliser.

They have a built in call button and microphone for answering calls and talking, The quality of this is basic and if your going to be chatting for a while i suggest not using this feature.

conclusion

Not the best out there but one of the best in the price range, more for the Electronic music generation but still a pretty decent all rounder headphone.

8/10
