Advantages Improves condition of plants

Disadvantages none

I'm quite good at growing plants out in the garden, but when it comes to indoor plants I need all the help I can get. Once whilst staying with a friend (keen and very competent with house plants) I described to her the miserable state of my latest indoor plant and she passed me a bottle of Baby Bio.

The distinctive dark brown bottles of original Baby Bio plant food seem to have been around for ages, I remember seeing it on shelves of many a home since childhood. I was surprised though to discover it has in fact been in production for over 60 years! The little curvy bottles and labelling has remained almost unchanged throughout that time. Bayer, the suppliers of Baby Bio, celebrated its diamond anniversary by denoting £20,000 to charity. So this all warms me to Baby Bio and I think if a product has successfully sold for a long time there is a very good reason for it.

It seems the formula is kept strictly secret, after researching on the internet I can only come away with knowing it contains important trace minerals. Seaweed may well be a part of the recipe but that's just me trying to guess. Anyway the liquid is of a dark brown, reddish colour without odour. It needs to be added to the water for your plants at an approximate rate of 5-10 drops to 500ml. Baby Bio can be used throughout the year and it is recommended you apply to plants every two weeks, especially when they are growing more actively.

Original Baby Bio is widely available in garden centres, supermarkets and online. The price can range between £0.75 and £3.00 for 175ml. As only several drops are required to roughly every pint of water, a bottle can last for a long time depending upon how many house plants you have. There are now other Baby Bio formulas to chose from such as for herbs or orchards.

It is advised to store Baby Bio in a cool place out of direct sunlight. After a while of use and storage when you unscrew the lid the nozzle of the bottle becomes covered with a pale dry crusty residue. Due to this I tend to unscrew the bottle over a sink before adding a few drops to my watering can.

After a few months of using Baby Bio I can honestly say I noticed an improvement in the condition of my house plants. Leaves looked shinier, the plants in general appeared stronger. I've since continued to use it and I'm hoping this year for a second flowering from a Madagascar Jasmine. My friend's recommendation was a good one and I can now also recommend original formula Baby Bio.

Thanks for reading :)
