"How I Live Now" differed to all other teenage "love" novels i have read. Set in an England on the brink of war, it tells the story of Daisy, an American teen who falls in love with her cousin. The novel pushes the safety boundaries of your average teenage romance novels, with under-age sex. The unusual writing style epitomizes the pain and harsh realities of war, as well as being torn away from those you love. The wool is never pulled over the reader's eyes, and love itself is conveyed so much more truly, so much more painfully yet at the same time heart-warming-ly than cheesey high school love stories. How I Live Now- wonderfully sad, brilliantly real, superbly written.
