How I Live Now is an excellent book for older readers containing a few examples of swearing. Meg Rosoff uses a wide range of vocabulary and strong phrases that capture the imagination. The main charicter is strong minded but the begining can be slightly confusing due to the tense and form of which the book is writen. The war (that in some parts is quite intense) is never explaned properly and you never find out who the enemy is and it would have made it better to know these details, but this is probably because the book is writen from the main character, Daisy's point of view and she doesn't know what is happening and it is never explaned to her. The book is about love and romance, freedom and magic that is turned into horror and near death expirences, at the end of the book you don't know whether to be happy or sad, but will want to read it again. How I Live Now is an outstanding read and I would recomend it to anyone.
