An introduction to the weather, filled with hundreds of experiments that let the reader discover for themselves the way the weather works. The book allows the reader to make their own "home laboratory" with available materials from the house and garden. Step-by-step instructions show clearly how to carry out each project.
Advantages: It's a page turner Disadvantages: some academic patches slow the story
...and daughter constantly have, and the business of changing nappies and looking after a baby, Crichton has ensured that there are plenty of interpersonal human relationships to keep us sustained through what some might consider dry expanses of technobabble.
I’d recommend this highly if you’re a fan of science fiction. Among Michael Crichton’s other works, I was interested to see, is Jurassic Park.
‘Prey’ is available from Amazon at £5.59 as I write this review. Try it and be very afraid. How will it all end for mankind?...

Advantages: very interesting and educational Disadvantages: none
...We all listen to the weather forecasts in the morning before work and of an evening before we go to bed, and often moan when the meteorologists get it wrong. However weather is a very complex thing and unless you paid great attention during geography lessons at school or work for the met office then like myself there's probably an waful lot of things about the weather which we don't know.

...hole in Lucky Man and I blame Michael J. Fox for it not one jot. When he describes his wife’s reaction and support from the moment he tells her of his diagnosis right through to after his announcement she is simply angelic. She is wonderful, marvellous…one might even said saintly.
Whilst it is more than possible for Fox to analyse his own limitations and weaknesses how could he equally do this to his wife and feel happy publishing it for all to read? Of course he couldn’t, and he doesn’t: so she stays the one-dimensional angelic creature that is all it is possible to paint her. I found this something of a shame but equally saw it as entirely unavoidable.
So our journey takes us to his famous announcement where Fox was to be completely overwhelmed by the interest his story received around the world and the positive manner in which...
