    I didn't like science that much at school. Except for biology - I still recall the embarrassment at parents' evening when my teacher asked if I got such a high mark on the reproductive test because I particularly enjoyed the subject. It's only in recent years that I've been particularly fascinated by science and the books from New Scientist magazine certainly fill a gap. They are entertaining, funny and hugely informative - every parents should use them to teach their children that science isn't just the subject you snooze through at school - and How To Fossilise Your Hamster is no exception ... more

But I don't want boring texts books - I want things I can actually see being done, and that are, more importantly, fun .
