Advantages: Real to life stories turned into hilarious everyday moments Disadvantages: None
The first time i saw this guy was on Live at the Apollo and only one of my mates saw it. I was trying to find people who had seen this guy so i could share in the laughter and when i eventually did find one, we knew that this guy was going to be big.
We went ahead and booked tickets to see him in November 08, it was the same show as this but was a few days after this filming and he'd somehow broke his arm so did the whole show in a sling! From what he was saying, he did actually do it on stage trying to do a cartwheel or running from behind the curtain and slipped. Him telling us that was just as funny as his gags, which are not actually gags but more everyday stories that we all can relate to.
When i first saw Lee Evans live, he used a simple mix of real life every day events and being completly stupid, Michael McIntyre is quite ...
I first saw Micheal McIntyre when I was about 9, (I am writing this review at the age of 10!) on We Are Most Amused. My mum told me he was really funny, watched...and decided that he was the best comedian out of the bunch! Then, I've seen him on Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You.
Then in Christmas 2008, my dad got me this DVD, Michael McIntyre - Live & Laughing.
In my opinion, all of the sketches were fantastic! The sketches that I found really funny were the "Argos", "White Wine", "Think *****, Say Tut", "Traffic", "Playgroup" and "Buffet".
The DVD also comes with an extra, which is Michael's 2007 Live At The Apollo performence, I think this is very funny! My favourite sketches from here were: "Trains", "Telephones" and "Walking".
My mum got this from HMV for about £14.99, I think. But you should be able to find it ...
Advantages: Quirky, charming, emotive vocals, great songwriting Disadvantages: None
Regina Spektor follows in a long line of kooky female singer songwriters - Kate Bush, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos to name but a few - and in my opinion when it comes to singer songwriters, the wackier the better. Begin toHope is her third studio album and second major label release and should have been the album that catapulted her to worldwide fame. Although I'd be pushed to say it quite achieved that (after all, how many of you are reading this thinking "oh yes, Regina Spektor, I know her well") it did give her a more widespread following, with airplay on Radio Two and even a slot on Jonathan Ross's chatshow.
Regina Spektor was born in Moscow but grew up in New York, and this cultural mix is reflected clearly in the eclectic mix of styles she employs. She has a strong background in classical piano which is a massive strength in her ...
