Review of Mr Nice - Howard Marks by
richardjmeek
Advantages: Good Read
Disadvantages: high level of details
...Mr Nice Is the autobiography of Howard Marks an international Dope Smuggler. The story is a bit of commedy the way it is written. Howard is so blaze about everything it is all matter fo fact.
Each Chapter is titled according to howards Current Name in the story, for example Master Marks is when he was at Oxford University Studying and Marco Polo Is when he was Mistaken for a mafia Drug Barron.
Howard Knew what he was doing was wrong but justified it in his head as dope never did anyone any harm it wasnt like he was supplying crack or heroin.

Not Davis' best
Review of The Silver Pigs - Lindsey Davis by
psylina
Advantages: A great read for those who like novels set in a 'classical' era
Disadvantages: Not the best Falco book, but because its the first one, it IS advisable (though by no means essential) to read it
...Silver Pigs IS a good book, but I did find parts of it vaguely dull (Falco's 'stint' working closely with silver) and so it was not quite as gripping as those further on in the series, but it was her first one in the series.
This was not the Davis' book that I started off with - I actually began with Venus in Copper (an aunt bought it for me) and having enjoyed that one so much; back-tracked to the others. I don't think i missed all that much doing this; perhaps some of the subtleties of his relationship with Helena were lost; but not anything earthshattering.
Davis' characters are fantastic, and I love her little introductions to them all as the 'dramatis personae'.
A slightly below par book from an above average series....

What's it all about?
Review of What's It All About? - Cilla Black by
Louise90
Advantages: Easy reading. Nicely written. The honesty.
Disadvantages: None
..., she never forgets her Liverpool roots, and often refers to how she misses the place. Her parent remained up there, while she and life-long husband Bobby moved to Denham.
Throughout her journey of stardom, she makes many good friends. These included Pat Davies, a life-long frend from Liverpool, The Beatles, Frankie Howard, Jimmy Tarbuck. And more recently, Dale Winton and Lily Savage, to name just a few.
She remembers her youth in the Cavern, where she went on a weekly basis. She was just a mere lass when she was seen by Brian Epstein, who made her a singing sensation. When he very first set eyes on her singing, he wasn't too impressed and didn't give her a second thought. But when he saw her singing a second time, this time singing a different song, he wanted her. He knew she would be a star. She was obviously singing the right...
