Port Ahoy! Cracking Belkin USB Hub
Advantages: great design, vertical ports for regular items such as memory sticks, led display Disadvantages: maybe a bit expensive but comparrison but it is quality
...have enough usb ports
(b) belkin are a respected manufacturer
(c) I liked the design
It cost me £12 when I bought it but I think that was the stores mistake as I have seen it advertised at between £19 and £24. Even at that price though this is a good piece of kit.
Bearing in mind you can get USB 2 hubs for about half the piece of this one made by companies you may have never heard of, the design and features on this device make it a very attractive ... ...a horizontal device.
The Belkin hub has indicator lights on the front showing the status of each of the devices attached in green and a red one showing the power. The hub itself is externally powered and both this and the PC connection are positioned at either end of the rear of the device. Between these two inputs are the five USB outputs.
The device sits nicely on the desk and having a black and silver finish, fits in nicely with most computer ...

USB is for me
Advantages: Have plenty of USB ports at any time Disadvantages: Can be a bit of a pain when it comes to the power supply.
...choose?
I chose the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Hub; this was based on the price, availability and looks. The price and availability of the USB hub were my main purchasing considerations. What did I get?
I got the main USB hub, a connection cable (one end plugs into the hub and the other plugs into a USB port on the computer), a transformer (this supplies power to the hub via a cable that plugs into the hub, more about this later in the review) ... ...£25.
What does it look like?
The hub itself is squircle shaped (a cross between a square and a circle) on one end are four USB ports, at one side is a socket for connecting the USB lead that connects the hub to the computer and another socket for the power supply that comes from the transformer. On the top and directly over the USB sockets are LED's that tell me when any of the USB sockets are in use and another LED that tells me if it is connected ...

General Hubub
Advantages: Small, USB2 Disadvantages: Spacing of the USB ports
...going to stick with my Belkin 4-port USB hub. Costing £20 from PC World (and probably a lot less form anywhere else), it's small enough to carry around, has it's own built-in cable to connect to the PC and comes with a small(ish) power adapted. The power supply is only needed this if you are planning to attach devices like web-cams and hard drives, which also take their power from the USB interface, to the hub.
It's USB 2.0 compliant, so your USB2 ... ...but it's also fully backward compatible with older USB1.1 devices so stuff shouldn't stop working. If you're running Windows XP there's no need for any drivers - just plug it in and away you go.
Finished in grey plastic with a row of 5 LEDs on the top, a red one indicates the devices is plugged in, and there's a green LED for each port that lights up when you attach something to the relevant port. They don't really serve much of a purpose, but at ...

Trust EasyConnect: Difficult to Fault...
Advantages: Good price, nice appearance, does the job! Disadvantages: Slight stability issue
...when I came across the Trust EasyConnect. Price
-----------
Whilst it was obvious to me that the Trust EasyConnect was significantly more than the very cheap (but useless) USB hubs, I still felt it offered excellent value for money as it was from a manufacturer I had actually heard of and seemed to be of a good quality. I paid £9.49 for it which I felt was a fair price especially when compared to some of the top of the range products. The general ... ...way I can fault the Trust EasyConnect is that once USB devices are connected, because of the angle at which the ports were placed on the product (most likely down to its shape), meant it did not balance on its base and instead leant to one side slightly. However this is evidently not something that Trust did not think off as included in the box was a Velcro sticker. However, the tilt really does not bother me, and also, who would want to commit to ...

NETGEAR 54G MODEM, AN AVERAGE PIECE OF EQUIMPENT
Advantages: STYLISH AND EXTREMELY EASY TO SET UP! Disadvantages: COMES WITH RUBBISH DOWNLOAD SPEEDS!
After having purchased four previous netgear routers i am still impressed with the seemless effort in which netgear have made there configurations. I believe after extensive searches this is a very good price for this bit of kit, some may say i am crazy but i have ADSL and DSL in my home and using two different wireless routers have found no problems yet. WGR614 highly recommended for the user of cable broadband and wanting to go wireless or use ... ...THE PRODUCT: Signal strenth is very good! VERY SMALL! fits in a little chest of draws in my hall nicely LOOKS VERY STYLISH! BAD THINGS ABOUT THE PRODUCT: You get a TERRIBLE download speed with it! WHERE CAN YOU BUY IT FROM? You can buy it from shops like curry's and dixons Or you can buy it on the internet Amazon would be a good place. THE PRICE: Its about £65 Overall this is a really good piece of equipment its very easy to setup, but the download ...
