Advantages: More gain than you'll ever need, 120 watts Disadvantages: Muddy clean tone, two channels but only one set of EQ
...The Peavey 5150 120W head will knock your socks off - quite literally. Not for the faint of heart, this is an amp designed to be loud, dirty and angry (just think of a certain EVH who it was designed for) and succeeds quite well in all of these departments.
A bit of background, I bought this amp second hand for $1300 AUS (about 500 quid I think) about 2 years ago. Realising that a 120W head would need to be driven a little to get that crunchy tone, I bought a Hughes and Kettner 2X12 cabinet to run the 5150 through. Having also trialled the head through a 4X12 Marshall cab, I can safely say that the 2X12 is a much better option. In a gig situation, you can get closer to that elusive 'cranked' sound without the sound engineer telling you to turn down, in rehearsal time, the volume you can achieve is easily sufficient to compete...

Advantages: Sound, features, value for money Disadvantages: Like any 100 watt valve head it's quite heavy!
...The Marshall TSL 100head is a 100 watt, triple channel valve amplifier head, the current flagship of the range.
I purchased this amplifier about 4 months ago, having been tempted by the very attractive price my local music shop was offering of £699.
Having used a JCM 900 single channel combo and a JMP 2203 MV head for many years this new amp took me a bit of getting used to, especially with the amount of controls available on the front panel!
The amp features 3 individual channels - clean, crunch and lead. Each channel has it’s own master volume, gain and EQ controls. In addition to this you also get tone changing switches on these channels which allow you to add more bottom end to the sound, and to cut the middle EQ setting to achieve that “scooped” sound, popular in thrash and nu-metal. There are also two...

Advantages: Cheap with beat counters Disadvantages: once your good you will want a better mixer
...Behringer keep spoiling us with great quality mixers at the lowest prices compared to any other manufacturer.
The VMX100 is an entry level dj mixer. it has 2 channels split for phono or line input.
each channel has it own beat counter and full high, mid, low trim..
The beat counters work quite well and along with the tempo and sysc LED displays, any body can learn to mix. there is a best assist button just press this button in time with the beat at the BPM is worked out and the sysc lights will tell you which channel is too fast or too slow.
the head phone mixer can play both channels at once or can be addigned to one channel or the other.
the cross fader in the VMX100 is excellent useing a glide bar to stop your movements damaging it. the life cycle is estimated at 500,000 slided thats alot. after nearly a year practicising...
