Hugo Boss Boss For Women

After recently trying Hugo Boss Orange and very much enjoying the perfume, I decided to test out more of Hugo Boss' fragrances, starting with Hugo Boss Woman.

Packaging

With both minimal outer cardboard packaging and a simply designed bottle, with Hugo Boss Woman it's clear the designers were looking to create an elegant and classic look, and in that they have succeeded very well. The bottle's transparent glass lets the pale golden colour of the perfume clearly be seen, and the only real twist to this bottle is it's shorter, curvaceous semi-circular shape.

Despite the elegant packaging though, a perfume is only as good as it's aroma, so what does Hugo Boss Woman smell like?

Scent & Staying Power

The answer, very simply, is classical. Described by Hugo Boss as being a fresh, fruity fragrance with a mixture of water notes, berries, apples, peaches and water lilies, Hugo Boss Woman is a very distinct perfume which I immediately liked.

With a pump-action spray that dispenses a fine mist of the perfume evenly only my skin, I found that the first spray of this perfume was delicious in fragrance. The first aspects noticable to my nose were the soft delicately warming peachy aroma alongside a fresh, white floral water lily scent, and I found these particular notes very enjoyable and feminine on my skin.

After around 20 minutes, the immediate fruity aroma softened a little and I could smell more lovely floral scents, but could not quite put my finger on the individual notes buried in the heart of this relatively powerful fragrance, although they had a distinctly oriental feel about them.

Several hours later, I could still distinctly smell Hugo Boss Woman on my skin; the fruity and floral nature of the fragrance had softened somewhat to reveal a deeper set of base notes, which to my nose had a wonderful, slightly musky and sensual aroma to it, thanks to the base notes of sandalwood, musk and the added sweeter touch of vanilla.

When to Wear?

Hugo Boss Woman is a perfume perhaps more suited to evening wear, and special occasions rather than day to day usage I feel; the scent is very distinct and could be a little too strong for daytime wear, plus with such a special fragrance it's often nice to keep it only for romantic evenings and events, or simply times when you want to feel good and confident about the fragrance you're wearing.

Price / Availability

Available in department stores, perfume stores and an array of online perfume outlets, the Hugo Boss Woman fragrance is available in a variety of sizes. From the 40ml which costs around £22.50, the 75ml for around £25.99, to the large 125m bottle for around £35, due to it's long lasting and distinct fragrance, only a little of the perfume is needed to make an impact, making it good value.
